Wood veneer lamp SOPHIE- Stylish, sexy, sophisticated!
Miss SOPHIE our sympathetic veneer lighting collection. Flexible, individual and versatile presents
SOPHIE itself for the first time to the public also “not buttoned” and with selected colorful robes.
Classic shape, traditional craftsmanship and innovative use of materials: SOPHIE is a shining example of
lasfera’s holistic approach to product design. The shade and foot are formed from flexible veneer plywood.
The special feature: The plywood is made from three layers - the two outer layers from different natural
woods that have been stripped using traditional methods, and an inner fleece layer. The fleece layer
ensures that the veneer layers are flexible and do not tear or break despite bending. For the veneer layers
there is a selection of natural woods such as maple and walnut to choose from, which can be combined
according to the customer’s preference in different color variations - so that each lamp gets a unique and
personal sculpture for the owner. All components of the lighting collection are from German artisans.
SOPHIE is available in different heights and versions. Economic use of material and individual design
possibilities make SOPHIE a truly sustainable lamp - with the potential of becoming a classic.
SOPHIE will be presented in a new look and different functions at the imm cologne and can be delivered
immediately.
LEIF – heißt erleben! – Gartengarnitur LEIF
LEIF – means experience! - Garden furniture set LEIF
LEIF the high quality reinterpretation of the “gesellige” original German beerbench which introduces itself to
a select audience. With new features and a unique design language LEIF not only appeals to individualists
but also to home and garden users.
The legs are made from aluminium, and available in a range of colours. The folding system, with its simple
release technology, newly developed by lasfera, makes rapid assembly and disassembly child’s play. A
special hardened locking unit guarantees durability and precision.
Concerning the material for the table and benches, the customer can choose between weather-resistant
natural woods, such as oak, pine and maple - and original scaffolding planks. For safety reasons, the latter
are no longer allowed to be used on building sites in Germany, and here they find a useful new application:
a sustainable contribution to resource and recycling conservation.
LEIF demonstrates particularly well that, for lasfera, design does not only mean surface embellishment, but
rather is always aimed at functional improvement. Thanks to the depth of 600 mm, the cosy get-together
feel is retained; insertion holes for mounting systems create a second level for crockery, menus, candles
and other accessories - that saves space.
The innovative and patented folding system and the materials used, make LEIF a multi-purpose piece of
furniture for fine dining and private social gatherings. With LEIF, more life is found in every gathering.
LEIF wird auf der imm cologne vorgestellt und kann auf Bestellung sofort geliert werden.
The garden furniture set is completely manufactured in small German workshops.
LEIF will be presented at the imm cologne and can be delivered immediately.
Unikat mit Seele – handgebogene Bambuslampe MOOLIN
An original with soul – hand curved bamboo lamp MOOLIN
MOOLIN the hand curved bamboo lamp pictures itself this year in new sizes and functions on the
IMM.
An elegant floor lamp as a symbiosis of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, modern
style, and the latest in lighting technology – lasfera has created a timelessly beautiful
lamp with MOOLIN. The base and the lampshade are made by hand from bent
bamboo poles that are shaped from a bamboo splint, thus the base of the floor lamp
is connected with the lamp as a unit. This lamp structure makes the base a central
component instead of a secondary one. The surfaces of the bamboo poles are oiled
and thus free of chemical treatments.
The story of MOOLIN begins either many thousands of years ago… or in 2006, depending on your
perspective! In 2006, Svenja and Henri Garbers, the brains behind lasfera, began to work intensively with
the culture of traditional regional craftsmanship in China. They were particularly interested in a special
bamboo bending technique that inspired an elliptical lighting shape from bent bamboo poles.
Bamboo, a material that has deep cultural roots in China, is often pressed into panels today; quality does
not play an important role. A manufacturer who could ensure the required quality was eventually found.
They now only needed to find a source of artisans could turn their ideas into reality. This also led to a long
search because bamboo weaving, like so many traditional craftwork techniques, is on the decline in the
booming Chinese market
The final design of MOOLIN lamps arose from dialogue between designers and
artisan craftsmen. The objective was to optimally harmonise the creative vision with
the production opportunity. Ultimately a design came about which was suited to the
bamboo material and at the same time conveyed the workmanship skill of the
bamboo weaver – and which would have global appeal for design connoisseurs.
Each individual lamp is a handmade original with individual, authentic character.
MOOLIN is a lamp with soul – and that can be seen and felt, because the bamboo
material “lives.”
MOOLIN lamps are available as floor lamp in four sizes and newly in three different hanging versions and
can be delivered immediately.
About lasfera
respect tradition – rethink design
Not only the finished is object important for lasfera, also all the involved economic, ecological and social
aspects are taken into account. lasfera is convinced that the designer today is not only responsible for good
designs, but he also needs to contribute towards resource sustainability and to make the world a better one.
Behind the scenes at lasfera are the designers Svenja and Henri Garbers. After stops in London, Madrid
and Beijing - where lasfera was founded in 2006 - both now work and live where, with their carpentry
apprenticeships, it all began: in Cologne. From here, lasfera is always looking for interesting craftsman’s
arts, ecologically sustainable materials and technical new developments that can be incorporated and
combined into their design works - not only locally but also globally.
To design also the path of the product to the end-customer in the same way, lasfera exclusively sells their
products via selected furniture and design traders, interior designers and online design markets, which are
mainly specialised in the sale of ecological products that are as sustainable as possible.
