Chronicle of the folklore - Folkloretanzensemble "Thea Maass"

Chronicle of the folklore dance ensemble
Founded in 1950, the folklore dance ensemble “Thea Maass” of TU Dresden
developed to one of the most efficient and formed amateur dance groups of
Germany. Under the management of Maud Butter at the present time about 35
dancers and musicians dedicate themselves of the care and interpretation of
German and foreign dance folklore, as well as the artistic conversion of
tradition from different parts of Germany. The sensitive contact with song and
dance is most important. Like it was the aim of choreographer, dance pedagogue
and dance director Thea Maass, the aim of the group is to show not just the
beauty of traditional dance but also the vivacity and variety.
Festivals and competitions not only in Germany but also abroad were a good
opportunity for all the dancers to show this purpose. So the dance group
traveled already in almost all countries of Europe and also the USA.

dance “Wer zuerst am Maibaum ist”
2011 1st Place at the 2th internationale Folk Dance festival at Riesa with the
dance “Wenn im Herbst die Trauben reifen”
1st Place at the 4th german dance contest “Jugend tanzt” at Paderborn with
the dance “Hütejungen”
2010 3rd Place at the International Folk Dance Festival at Riesa
1st Place at the 4th Saxonia contest “Jugend tanzt” at Dresden with the
dance “Hütejungen”
2008 3rd Place at the 3rd open dance contest at Rudolstadt with the dance
“Varsovienne”
