This design recalls me Toyo Ito’s design that completion in 2004, Tod’s Omotesando. Structurely and
architecturely the Tod’s building is wrapped in a skin of criss-crossed concrete braces and glass that
mimics the trees lining the street.

Whether or not the same approach, a house for clubhouse and boathouse Nordwesthaus, designed by
Architects Baumschlager Eberle has a incredible double skin illuminated effect throughout the day. The
building is constructed by the internal organic shape concrete which is enveloped by semi-transparency
glass. As positioned right on the edge of the moorings, the building will serve as a beacon, when internal
ceiling light’s on during the night, it totally looks like a ice-cube.

“The irregular structure of the concrete elements is set off against the regular rectangular
shapes of the sheets of glass…The randomness of the glass decoration avoids too sharp a
contrast between the core and the envelope.”
