„The new 25-nation European Union as an economic location
– with regard to the federal state of Thuringia“
GREETING
May this brochure be a remembrance
of an unforgettable week for all participants of our first summer school and be
also an appetizer for those who missed
out last time, but who might like to join
us in September 2006!
Last springtime we invited students
and lecturers of our partner-universities in Europe and overseas for a oneweek summer school in Erfurt. The
main target group were undergraduate
students of management studies and
interested lecturers.
We were then glad to host 25 foreign
students and 5 international lecturers
who spent an interesting and exiting
week together with 12 of our students
and lecturers from University of Applied
Sciences as well as Business Partners
from outside.
The idea of our first summer school
was to strengthen international co-operation and communication, especially
for the business students of our international partners and to give them an
insight into our business studies program and research as well as projectwork with German companies we are
cooperating with.
The then enrolled participants came
from Universities in Vilnius, Lithuania;
Newcastle, United Kingdom; Gorzow
as well as Kalisz, Poland and New Delhi, India.
The chosen topic of our summer school
„The New 25-nation European Union
as an economic location“ provided the
framework for the events which we organized for that week
In the mornings our summer school
offered several sessions of lectures
and study courses which took place on
our main University campus in Erfurt,
Altonaer Strasse. For the afternoons
and evenings there were additional
workshops, the chance to visit various
companies and different cultural programmes in the famous old town of
Erfurt and also in Leipzig.

For all of us this event was interesting
and instructive and could also promote
intercultural understanding.
The summer school was mainly financed by the University of Applied
Sciences, the Friends of The Business
Department and the listed sponsors.
Our gratitude goes also to all those
named and anonymous helpers and in
particular to the very involved students’
orga-team of the Business Department
of our University of Applied Sciences!
