The holidays are fast approaching and on behalf of the Flag
officers, the Executive and the club management, I would
like to wish you and your loved ones a very happy, healthy
holiday Season. May the New Year bring you lots of fun
times on the water, sun and wind!

Les fêtes approchent à grands pas et au nom des Officiers, de
l’Exécutif et de la Gérance du Club, je veux vous souhaiter, ainsi
qu’à vos proches, mes meilleurs voeux de bonheur et de santé
pour la saison des fêtes. Et que la nouvelle année vous apporte
vent, soleil et bien du plaisir sur l’eau.
This time of year is a usually a period of reflection on the
past year and what can be improved. The same reflection is
also happening at the club by the executive! We have a great
asset but we need to keep improving it to preserve it.
Traditions are at the base of every club but perpetuating the
Club's tradition should not stop us from moving ahead. The
present demographic reality of the club is a challenge and a
concern as it is aging and not renewing with younger
members over the last few years. This key point will be
examined by the Executive and we will be looking for ideas
and solutions in the future. Membership and how to fill the
docks will be at the forefront of the discussions. The new
Executive is ready to work very hard and is planning three
days of retreat during the year to plan the Club’s transition to
a new business model where tradition coexists with
modernity.
C’est habituellement le moment de faire une réflexion sur
l’année qui se termine et voir ce qui a besoin d’amélioration.
C’est la même chose pour le Comité exécutif du Club. Nous
possédons des atouts majeurs et devons continuer à nous
améliorer si nous voulons les conserver. Les traditions sont à la
base de tout club mais les traditions ne doivent pas nous
empêcher d’aller de l’avant. La situation démographique actuelle
du Club est un défi et un souci puisque notre population avance
en âge et ne s’est pas enrichie de jeunes membres ces dernières
années. C’est un point crucial qui préoccupe l’Exécutif et nous
cherchons des idées et des solutions pour l’avenir. Nos priorités
seront l’adhésion et les stratégies pour remplir nos espaces de
quais. Le nouvel Exécutif est prêt à travailler très fort. Nous
avons prévu trois jours de retraite pendant l’année pour planifier
cette transition vers un nouveau modèle de gestion du Club qui
fusionnera tradition et modernisme.
The Club can’t exist without its volunteers. Feel free to
contact any of us if you would like to join a committee or
help out. It is a great way to engage the Club and to meet
other members. You are more than welcome aboard!
Un club ne peut exister sans ses bénévoles. N’hésitez pas à
contacter l’un d’entre nous si vous désirez participer à des
activités de comité. C’est une excellente façon de vous impliquer
au Club et de faire la connaissance d’autres membres. Vous
serez accueillis chaleureusement!

A few highlights from last year:
Quelques faits marquants de l’an dernier:









Marc Farmer and Trevor Parekh were named “Marin
de l’année” by the Fédération de Voile du Québec for
their Little America’s Cup C Class project.
William Hall won Crew of the year by the FVQ
Peter Hall and crew William Hall were 1st in the
Soling Uruguay Worlds
Heather Myatt and Arielle Morgan continue their
quest for Rio 2016 with great performance such as 6 th
at Garda Trentino Olympic week at Lake Garda, Italy
The McAuslan Cup again raised a record $25,000 for
the adaptive sailing AQVA. Thank you to Patrick
Flaherty, David Wisenthal and John Angus. In
recognition of his outstanding contribution to this
event, Sail Canada named Patrick the Volvo Cars
Volunteer of the Month for November 2015.
Our Opti sailors had great representation this year
with Zoé Roosen at the Optimist World
Championship, William and Audrey Staples at the
North American Championship in Antigua
The facilities continue to be improved. The biggest
renovation this year was the front façade that was
completely redone
Our food and beverage operation with our new chef
Eric and managed by Louis Morin continued to be
very well appreciated by the members and guests
Even though the membership has not grown this year, the
club’s finances remain sound with careful practices by the
administration team led by David Fleet. A big thanks goes
to David for all his hard work and dedication. We
welcomed our new Assistant Manager Robert Karas this
Fall. He will transition to the role of Club Manager in the
future. David will continue to be involved in the Club
operations and harbor.
Marc Farmer et Trevor Parekh ont été nommés “marins de
l’année” par la Fédération de Voile du Québec en raison de
leur projet de la petite Coupe Classe C.
William Hall a été nommé “Équipier de l’année” par la FVQ.
Peter Hall et William Hall ont terminé premiers aux
Mondiaux de Solings en Uruguay.
Heather Myatt et Arielle Morgan poursuivent leur efforts
pour aller à Rio en 2016, se plaçant 6e à la semaine
olympique de Garda Trentino au Lac Garda en Italie.
La Coupe McAuslan a encore recueilli un montant record de
$25,000 au profit de la voile adaptée de L’AQVA. Merci
Patrick Flaherty, David Wisenthal et John Angus. Pour
souligner sa participation exceptionnelle, Voile Canada a
nommé Patrick “Bénévole Volvo du Mois” pour novembre
2015.
Nos marins d’Optis ont été représentés fièrement cette année
par Zoé Roosen, au Championnat mondial d’Optis et par
William et Audrey Staples au Championnat nord-américain à
Antigua.
Les installations continuent de s’améliorer. La plus
importante amélioration cette année fut la réfection complète
de la façade de l’entrée.
Nos opérations de restauration, sous la direction du Chef Éric
et du gérant Louis Morin, continuent d’être appréciées par les
membres et leurs invités.







Bien que le nombre de membres n’ait pas augmenté cette année,
les finances du Club sont saines grâce à la gestion prudente de
l’équipe administrative menée par David Fleet. Un grand merci à
David pour son travail et son dévouement. Cet automne, nous
avons accueilli notre nouvel Assistant Gérant, Robert Karas.
Après une certaine période de transition Il occupera le poste de
gérant, alors que David continuera d’être impliqué dans les
opérations portuaires du Club .
