Œuvre participative avec 100 jeunes de la région d’Houffalize
Au cœur de la ville de Houffalize dans les Ardennes belges, Françoise Schein
a inscrit sur une façade, une cartographie singulière de la ville en y insérant
des images figuratives qui racontent une légende locale, celle de la Dame
Blanche. Les dessins sont réalisés avec la complicité d’une centaine
d’enfants de la région, et offrent aux curieux d’ «Ici» un voyage «Ailleurs ».

HOUFFALIZE, Belgium
In the center of the city of Houffalize located in the southern belgian region les
Ardennes, the Association Inscrire, artist Françoise Schein with the
collaboration of Talya Kahn, have created a huge ceramic map of the city with
narrative imageries made with the participation of 100 youngsters of local
schools, colleges and high schools, who were invited to develop narrative
drawings after a local myth (the myth of the “White Lady”).
In 2006, their creative images were included into the final map which was
applied onto a prominent city square wall visible from afar like an urban map,
grounding the “White Lady” myth into the city desire to reinventing itself.
