Bedienungsanleitung HSG 45 Seite 10 ___________________________________________________________________________ 6. Remarks in respect of the determined use 5.1. Operation of the unit First the cutting head has to be opened by pulling the locking pin (Pos.-No. 1) out of the cutting head. Then the cable/conductor must be positioned in the cutting head which must be closed thereafter. In order to start the cutting procedure the turn screw (Pos.-No. 6) must be turned 180° while the pump lever (Pos.-No. 3) is pushed towards the handle (Pos.-No. 5). Attention Wear eye protection when using this tool. A cutting process is initiated by activating the pump lever (Pos.-No. 3). It is defined by the approach and penetration of the moving blade (Pos.-No. 7) into the cable/conductor. The moving blade must approach the cable/conductor from a vertical direction to avoid undesired shearing forces which might cause the blade to stuck or get damaged. The tool is equipped with a double piston pump which is characterised by a fast approach of the moving blade towards the cable/conductor and a slow working stroke. In the low pressure mode the fast approach is realised while opening the pump lever (Pos.-No. 3) and the slow by closing it. In the high pressure mode the cutting stroke is realised by closing the pump lever only. Instruction Manual HSG 45 page 17 _____________________________________________________________________________ A cutting cycle is terminated when the blades closed completely or when the maximum cutting force is reached. This is indicated by a significant decrease of the handle force. After the cut is completed the retract lever must be actuated to retract the piston. In case of an error the retract lever (Pos.-No. 4) can be actuated at any time to return the piston into its starting position. Before storing the tool the turn screw (Pos.-No. 6) has to be turned 180° and the handles must be closed until the lock is activated. 5.2. Explanation of the application range Our hydraulic cutting tool type HSG 45 can cut copper, aluminium and Al/St conductors according to DIN 48204 (ACSR) up to a maximum diameter of 45 mm (Al/St 570/40 mm²). Attention Do not cut live cables or conductors. Before starting to cut please make sure that all parts involved in the cutting process are not connected to live cables.
