TU and UdK students and external users may borrow up to 50 items at the same time. UdK members and other users Overdue notices/Fines If you add your email address to your library account, you will receive an email notice: • 3 days before an item is due. (However, please check your due dates regularly. You are still responsible for any overdue fees or fines even if you did not receive a reminder notice.) • when a reserved item has been returned and is ready to collect • when an interlibrary loan item has arrived and is ready to collect You can access your library account from the TU Library or UdK Library start page via My Library Account (TU) or Mein Konto (UdK). There you enter your user ID (Benutzer ID) and PIN (default PIN is set to your postal code). Once in the catalogue, you click My account (TU) or Mein Konto (UdK). In your account, you can add or update your email address. For your own security, please also change your default PIN via Personal settings > Change PIN. with equivalent borrowing rights may borrow up to 10 items of UdK audiovisual materials. The responsible head of department shall decide on any exceptions. Self-issue machines In the Volkswagen Building, self-issue machines are available to check out items. • 1st overdue notice: 2 days after due date • 2nd overdue notice: 7 days after 1st overdue notice • 3rd overdue notice: 14 days after 2nd overdue notice For short loan items the following schedule applies: • 1st overdue notice: day after due date • 2nd overdue notice: 3 days after 1st overdue notice • 3rd overdue notice: 3 days after 2nd overdue notice Overdue fines are as following: Returning items • Please return items to the library location where you have borrowed them. In case a site is closed, items can be returned at the Circulation Desk in the Volkswagen Building. • An additional EUR 5,00 per item for the 2nd overdue notice • A further additional EUR 8,00 per item for the 3rd overdue notice A self-return machine is available in the Volkswagen Building. A return receipt will be issued on demand. Anonymous returns are possible via a book return slot marked „Anonyme Buchrückgabe“ outside the Library in the Foyer. The borrower is liable in case of loss etc. Please return UdK audiovisual materials to the UdK Media Centre on the 4th floor. Outside Media Centre opening hours, items can be returned at the 4th floor information desk. Renewals You can renew loans: • via your library account (sign in at Knowledge Portal Primo (TU) or at Wissensportal der Künste (UdK). • at the Circulation Desk in the Central or any of the Department Libraries • by phone at (030) 314-76001. Loans for books may be renewed up to 5 times, loans for audiovisual materials (UdK) up to 2 times. Loans for items which have been reserved by another user, which are part of the Text Book Collection (Lehrbuchsammlung) or which have been ordered via interlibrary loan cannot be renewed. Self-service collection area and self-issue machines on ground floor Overdue notices are sent according to the following schedule: EUR 2,00 per item for the 1st overdue notice After the 3rd overdue notice you will have to pay EUR 15,00 in total per item. You will still be responsible for overdue fines even if you have not received an overdue notice. Library account block A fine of € 25 or more on your library account or a 3rd overdue notice will prevent you from borrowing or renewing items. If fines below € 25.00 are not paid within 3 months, your account will be blocked as well. The block will be removed after you paid your outstanding fees and fines at the pay machine in the Volkswagen Building. Complaints concerning fines etc. should be addressed to the Circulation Department staff in the Volkswagen Building or the Circulation Desk staff in one of the Department Libraries. Please note: The 1st and 2nd overdue notice will be sent via email if your email address is specified in your library account.
