The Roc d’Enfer: legend has it that a shepherd lost
his way in the mountains while looking for
his animals and fell from the hillside during a storm,
eventually succumbing to his injuries.
Ever since, the mountain has been called the Roc
d’Enfer (Hell’s Rock)!
The col Ratti: this mountain pass gets its name from
the French "rôti" (roast). This is because the hillside
is very exposed and offers little shade... hence
the risk of being roasted in the open!
Difficulty level: hard
Duration: 6hrs30
Altitude change: 920 m
Weather guide: in very fine weather only
Starting point: Graydon hamlet car park,
