Le wis (Envoyé special du Secré taire général des Nations Unies pour le VIH/SIDA en Afrique). S’alignant sur le C ongrè s, le
C om ité du programme de la S.H.C. a choisi de placer la réunion annuelle 2006 de la Société sous le thème La ville :
Perspectives mondiales ; pour débattre de ce sujet, il a invité des historiens de toutes specialités.

2. FAC ILITATORS
The positions of chair and commentator have been combined into that of "Facilitator," who will introduce the panelists,
spe nd a m aximum of five minutes drawing out the main themes and issues after their presentations, and help to stimulate
discussion with the audience.
3. NEW FO R MAT - "FORUM"
A block of nine sessions has been designed to take advantage of the e lectronic pre-distribution. In these sessions, those
atte nding will be e xpected to have read the papers, facilitators will open with a te n-minute commentary, panelists will have
only five minutes to present their papers, and the re mainder of the time will be devoted to discussion.
4. TIGHT TIME LIMITS
To e nsure the maximum time for d iscussion, independent timekeepers will be appointed to each session to make sure that
the following time limits are strictly maintained:





15 m inutes for re gular paper presentations
10 m inutes for roundtable presentations
5 m inutes for facilitators' comments in re gular sessions and roundtables
10 m inutes for facilitators' comments in Forums
5 m inutes for paper pre sentations in Forums

Un «facilitateur» tie ndra le double rôle de président de séance e t de commentateur. Il pré sentera le s panélistes, ré sumera
e n m oins de cinq minutes le s grandes questions qu’ils auront soulevées dans le urs présentations e t animera la discussion
e ntre le s conférenciers e t le public.
3. «LE FO R UM», UNE NO UVELLE FORMULE
Pour tire r profit de la pré distribution é lectronique, nous avons organisé une série de neuf séance s spéciales qui se
dé rouleront comme suit : le facilitateur ouvrira la séance par un commentaire d’une dizaine de m inutes; chaque panéliste
disposera ensuite de cinq minutes pour présenter son point de vue; le reste de la séance sera consacré e à la discussion
e ntre le s panélistes et les auditeurs, qui devront avoir lu préalablement les textes intégraux des panélistes.
4. DES LIMITES DE TEMPS STRICTES
Afin de laisser le plus de temps possible à la discussion, des chronométreurs indépendents assisteront aux séances afin de
faire rigoureusement re specter l’horaire suivant :





15 m inutes allouées aux communications ré gulières.
10 m inutes allouées aux présentations de tables rondes.
5 m inutes allouées aux commentaires du facilitateur, qu’il s’agisse de séances ré gulières ou de tables rondes.
10 m inutes pour les commentaires des facilitateurs dans le s forums.
5 m inutes pour chacune des présentations dans le s forums.
