HONOR – Down
ICE BREAKER
I work in an insurance company. In the context of improvement of
costumer satisfaction we answer every telephone call with the words:
„welcome to xy, my name ist xy, what can i do for you?“ …lately i got the
following response: Hello? ..ahh i thought is the answering machine“.
This made me laugh.
HONOR
10.01.16
17.01.16
24.01.16
31.01.16
07.02.16
HONOR - Up
HONOR - Down
HONOR - Side
HONOR – IN
HONOR – OUT
 Why? Because in a every day situation the question „what can i do for you?“ is quite often more
used or interpreted as an empty phrase/empty politeness than in the actual meaning of the question
itself.
Discussion: When did you last ask someone : „what can i do for you?/how can i help you ?“ …how did the
conversation continue?
SUMMARY OF MESSAGE
1. The golden rules
JOHN 8:54
«Jesus said, “If I honor Myself, My honor would be worth nothing. My Father honors Me. You say He is your
God.”»
The Bible – New Life Version
1 PETER 2:17
«Honor all people.»
The Bible – New King James Version
LUKE 22:24-27
«A dispute also arose among them [the disciples] as to which of them was considered to be greatest. Jesus
said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call
themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the
youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or
the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.»
The Bible – New International Version
PHILIPPIANS 2:4-11
«Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others. In your lives you must
think and act like Christ Jesus. Christ himself was like God in everything. But he did not think that being
equal with God was something to be used for his own benefit. But he gave up his place with God and made
himself nothing. He was born as a man and became like a servant. And when he was living as a man, he
humbled himself and was fully obedient to God, even when that caused his death—death on a cross. So
God raised him to the highest place. God made his name greater than every other name so that every knee
will bow to the name of Jesus — everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. And everyone will
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and bring glory to God the Father.»
The Bible – New Century Version

2. See the potential in your fellow human beings
No Goes:
- Never push people into your ideal image
- Never misuse people for your purpose and goals
Be a conscious supporter of their potential
3. Be a blessing for your fellow human beings
Pray regularly for your fellow human beings
For their birthday write a “word of knowledge or prophecy”
Take part in “specials” (weddings, births, illnesses, etc.)
Give “a little present” for Christmas
REFLECTION
1. Think of a person whom you look up to and is a model for you.
a) How do you go about it to honor this person ?
b) Could you honor everyone in this way? why (not)? How do you decide to whom to give honor and
to whom not?
c) How much honor does Jesus/god give us?
2. Read in the following passages in the bible…
a) … how Jesus honored us people?
- Mark 10,45ff
- Luke 22,24
b) … how god honors himself, in his own next community ( father / Jesus / holy spirit) ?
- Mathew 3,16 (honor from father to son)
- Luke 22, 41-44 (honor from so nto father)
- John 14, 8 – 17 (honor from father to son, from son to holy spirit)
- Genesis 1,2 (spirit is present at creation through the father)
What does it mean for your own life?
PRAYER
It all sounds great – but perhapt you still think: but what about me? – If i give more, what remains for me? in
time, in money, in relaxation, … BUT :
We never ever ever come off badly with god (quotation of Leo in message)
(biblical principals/proofs: he has given us a life in abundance, the one who gives receives, he
doesn’t burden us with more than we can carry, …)
Give thanks for things/situations in which you experienced god giving you more than plenty and providing for
you. Pray for gods‘ perspective in/over situations, in which it is difficult for you to give, perhaps also difficult to
trust in god. Pray that god may give you all you need, that HE may strengthen you and let you succeed to do
what he wants.

HEARTBEAT für Smallgroup Leiter
HONOR
Plane dein SG Treffen:
- Überlege dir was du delegierst (Administration, Gastgeber/Essen, Gebet, Worship, Input …).
