An Excursion through the History of Braunschweig and England

Bath’s twin city of Braunschweig in Northern Germany has a long shared history with England,
from Henry the Lion’s marriage to the sister of Richard Lionheart in 1168 to the British
occupation after 1945. This illustrated talk will take the audience through happy and unhappy
marriages, stable and unstable alliances, revolutions and wars to the present day of peaceful
collaboration and a twinning partnership with the city of Bath.
The talk will be given in German – with English summaries.
