En langue micmaque, Gespeg désigne la fin des terres. Or, c’est
à Gaspé que débuta l’histoire de l’Amérique française. La croix
qu’y planta Jacques Cartier en 1534 lui a valu le titre de
berceau du Canada.
In Micmac language, Gespeg means the end of the lands. Yet, it
is here in Gaspé that French America history started. The cross
erected by Jacques Cartier in 1534 earned the city the name of
Canada’s birthplace.
Protégée par les montagnes, la baie de Gaspé est un abri naturel, et d’imposants bateaux de croisière viennent de partout
l’admirer. Gaspé compte trois rivières à saumon mondialement
réputées, la York, la Dartmouth et la Saint-Jean, fréquentées
par plus de 1 500 pêcheurs chaque année.
Protected by mountains, the bay of Gaspé is a natural shelter,
impressive cruise ships from everywhere have come to admire
it. Gaspé has three world-famous salmon rivers; the York, the
Darthmouth and the St-Jean. These rivers attract more than
1500 fishermen every year.
La ville de Gaspé est un regroupement de 17 villages côtiers qui
s’étendent sur 135 kilomètres de long, de L’Anse-à-Valleau,
porte d’entrée nord de la ville de Gaspé, jusqu’à Douglastown.
The city of Gaspé encompasses 17 coastal villages spread out
over 135 kilometers along the coast, from l’Anse-à-Valleau,
northern gateway to the town of Gaspé, to Douglastown.

Une péninsule grandeur nature pour aller au bout de ses rêves! Le parc national Forillon, créé en 1970,
est situé à la fine pointe de la Gaspésie. Ses paysages grandioses de mer, de falaises et de montagnes
s’étendent sur 245 km². La présence de dix formations rocheuses différentes, les colonies d’oiseaux
marins, un monde sous-marin insoupçonné de même que la diversité de la faune et de la flore donnent
au parc son caractère unique. Situé à l’intérieur de ce parc de bord de mer, le site patrimonial de GrandeGrave témoigne du mode de vie des familles de pêcheurs. Le parc est situé entièrement à l’intérieur du
territoire de la municipalité de Gaspé, le pôle régional de la Gaspésie.
A picture-perfect peninsula to experience life to the fullest! Forillon National Park, created in 1970, is
located at the very tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. Its magnificent seascapes, cliffs and mountains occupy
245 km². The presence of ten different rock formations, seabird colonies, a surprising underwater world
and its broad diversity in wildlife and plant life combine to make this park unique. Located within the
seaside park, the Grand-Grave Heritage Site bears witness to the lifestyles of the fisher folk who lived
here in the early 1900s. The park lies entirely within the territory of the town of Gaspé, the regional pole
of the Gaspé Peninsula.

that is what’s in store for campers who use the
park’s campsites. There are also wilderness
campsites and dorm-style shelters in the backcountry.
Pour vous assurer de bénéficier d’un emplacement de camping lors de vos prochaines vacances
à Forillon, il est recommandé d’utiliser le service
de réservation de Parcs Canada. Les campeurs qui
n’ont pas de réservation peuvent s’inscrire sur
place selon la disponibilité des emplacements et
suivant le principe du premier arrivé, premier
servi.
To make sure you have a campsite when you next
come to Forillon for your vacation, it’s a good idea
to use the Parks Canada booking service. Campers
who haven’t booked in advance can book a site
when they get here; individual campsites are available on a first come, first served basis.
