This encoder is EX-tested and approved. On request, we will be pleased to send you the respective certificate of conformity PTB 08 ATEX 1058 X . Safety and Operating Instructions The encoders of the type 7030/31 are quality products that are manufactured in accordance with established electrical engineering standards. The units have left the factory in perfect condition, fully complying with safety regulations. To maintain this condition and to ensure trouble-free operation, please observe the technical specifications of this document. Only the Kübler company is authorized to repair the units or to fit spare parts. Installation and mounting may only be performed by a skilled person! The units may only be operated within the limits specified by the technical data. Series 7030/31 encoders have been designed and manufactured in accordance with the applicable safety requirements of the following industry standards: Protection: DIN EN 60529 IP6X Climatic test: DIN EN 60068-2-3 Transient emissions : DIN EN 61000-6-3 and DIN EN 61000-6-4 Shock resistance: DIN EN 60068-2-27 Vibration resistance: DIN EN 60068-2-6 Produced according to: DIN EN 61010-1 protection class III Maximum operating voltages must not be exceeded! The units are designed to comply with EN 61010-1 protection class III. To prevent dangerous shock currents, the equipment has to be run on safety extra-low voltages (SELV) and must be in an area of equipotential bonding. Please use an external fuse (see electrical data). Fields of application: industrial processes and control. Overvoltage at the connecting terminals must be limited to Overvoltage Class lI values. Please avoid shocks to the housing - especially to the encoder shaft - and axial or radial overload to the encoder shaft. Maximum accuracy and durability of our encoder is only guaranteed when using a suitable coupling. The high-quality EMC-specifications apply only when the cables and plugs, which are delivered as standard, are used. The PVC cable (part of the scope of delivery) is suitable for use in high temperature areas and must not be modified. When using screened cables, the screen must be connected over a large surface area with ground at both ends. Likewise, the voltage-supply cables should be fully screened. If this is not possible, then appropriate filtering measures must be taken. Explosion protection classification The Kübler Explosion-proof encoders are classified according to EX II 2G EX d II C T6 (EN 60079-0 and EN 60079-1) Certificate of conformity: Ex II 2 G Ex d II C T6 II 2 G Ex dII C T6 Temperature class gas group C explosion group II (all areas except for fire-damping mining areas) compression resistant enclosure explosion proof production facilities application in areas with gas, steam, mist category 2 explosion group II (all areas except for fire-damping mining areas) explosion proof production facilities with PTB approval The installation environment and wiring have a significant effect on EMC performance of the encoder and so the installer must safeguard the EMC of the whole system (device). Transient peaks on the power supply leads are to be limited by the preconnected power unit to a maximum of 1000V. In electrostatically threatened areas please ensure that both plug and connecting cable are well protected during installation work. The connecting cable is only suitable for fixed installation (no trailing or drag cables). The installation contractor is responsible for taking into consideration the Ex regulations when selecting cables. The special explosion-proof encoder housing must not be opened. The encoder types 7030/7031 are manufactured to comply with EC directive 94/9/EG. The product may only be built into or installed on suitable plant and equipment. The use of the machine is not allowed until the end product clearly complies with 94/9/EG. Specific terms A repair of the flameproof joint surfaces must only be carried out in line with the mechanical construction specifications of the manufacturer. A repair according to the values in table 2 of EN 60079-1:2004 is not admissible. If the encoder is operated in a temperature range other than that specified in the EC Type Examination Certificate, then electrical/thermal testing and control of the heating at selected critical locations must be carried out. The manufacturer is to be informed of this. – The cable gland is screwed tightly onto the cover, using the thread M20 x 1.5 – The cover is fixed to the flange by means of 4 hexagonal socket head cap screws M4 x 0.7, strength class 8.8 – If the encoder shows visible damage, then it must not be used or operated and must be repaired only by Fritz Kübler GmbH.
