5th International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera

16 – 21 August 2014
The Cesti Competition will take place in Innsbruck for the fifth time.
Named after the Italian composer Pietro Antonio Cesti, who turned
Innsbruck into a centre for the Italian opera north of the Alps in the
mid-17th century, young singers from all over the world with a
special talent and training will compete in the varied field that is the
baroque opera for participation in the final concert on 21 August.
Special prizes will be awarded with view to the BAROQUE
OPERA:YOUNG production by the Innsbruck Festival to take place
the following year, with the special prize winners performing.

the baroque opera scene

Der Cesti-Wettbewerb findet bereits zum fünften Mal in Innsbruck
statt. Benannt nach dem italienischen Komponisten Pietro Antonio
Cesti, der Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts Innsbruck zu einem Zentrum
der italienischen Oper nördlich der Alpen machte, richtet sich
der Wettbewerb an junge Sängerinnen und Sänger aus aller Welt
mit einer besonderen Begabung und Ausbildung für das überaus
vielfältige Barockopernfach. Das Finale wird am 21. August als
öffentliches Konzert im Tiroler Landeskonservatorium ausgetragen.
Zu den Sonderpreisen zählt die Mitwirkung in der Produktion
BAROCKOPER:JUNG bei den Innsbrucker Festwochen 2015.
