MARDI 11 OCTOBRE
Accueil des participants et enregistrement au Royal Victoria
Hôtel, Hastings. Réception de bienvenue, présentation
photographique par M. Laton Frewen, suivi du dîner à l’hôtel.
TUESDAY 11th OCTOBER
Welcome and registration of participants at the Royal Victoria
Hotel, Hastings. Official Welcome reception, photo
presentation by Mr. Laton Frewen, followed by dinner at the
hotel.
MERCREDI 12 OCTOBRE
Visite à Chartwell, ancien domicile de Sir Winston Churchill,
suivi d’un déjeuner léger. L’après-midi, visite du château de
Bodiam et ‘cream tea’ au café du château. Retour à l’hôtel ;
exposé avec diapos sur les stratégies militaires de la Bataille
d’Hastings en 1066, présenté par M. Hugh Willing, suivi d’un
buffet dinatoire.
WEDNESDAY 12th OCTOBER
Visit and light lunch at Chartwell, former home of Sir Winston
Churchill followed by visit to Bodiam Castle and cream tea.
Return to the hotel for pre-dinner presentation by Hugh Willing
on the military strategies of the Battle of Hastings in 1066
followed by buffet dinner.
JEUDI 13 OCTOBRE
Visite au château d’Hever (ancienne demeure d’Anne Boleyn
et de la famille Astor). Cérémonie de redédication au Stèle
Normand à l’Abbaye de Battle, retour à l’hôtel et diner.
THURSDAY 13th OCTOBER
Visit and lunch at Hever Castle (former home of Anne Bolyen
and the Astors). Re-dedication ceremony at the Norman Stone
in Battle Abbey, return to hotel for dinner.
VENDREDI 14 OCTOBRE
(950ème anniversaire de la bataille de Hastings en 1066)
Visite (en 2 groupes) du musée de Battle et son exposition
spéciale « 950ème anniversaire » et de la ville de Battle, suivie
d’un déjeuner léger au restaurant ‘Pilgrim’s Rest’ à Battle.
Service commémorative à l’église de St. Mary’s, défilé
militaire animé par la fanfare régimentaire de la brigade des
Ghurkhas et sonnerie aux Morts devant l’Abbaye de Battle.
Le soir, diner-dansant à l’hôtel Powdermills avec nos amis du
Morgan Club de France.
FRIDAY 14th OCTOBER
(950th Anniversary of the Battle of Hastings in 1066)
Visit (in two groups) of Battle Museum with special 950th
anniversary exhibition and Battle Town, followed by light
lunch at The Pilgrim’s Progress in Battle. Commemoration
Church Service at St. Mary’s Battle followed by attendance at
military parade (by the Ghurkha regimental band) and Last
Post in front of Battle Abbey. Return to the hotel to change for
dinner/dance at the Powdermills Hotel in Battle with members
of the Morgan Club de France.
SAMEDI 15 OCTOBRE
Le matin, Réunion des Sections à l’hôtel. Pour ceux qui ne
sont pas délégués de leur section à cette réunion, ils auront
du temps libre pour se promener dans la vieille ville de
Hastings. Déjeuner à l’hôtel suivi par retour à Battle pour la
cérémonie de simulation sur le champ de la Bataille
d’Hastings et un nouvel aperçu des nouvelles expositions
commémoratives. Retour à l’hôtel pour cocktail avec membres
du Morgan Club de France suivi d’un diner de ‘fish & chips’
au restaurant l’Azur et feux d’artifice sur la jetée d’Hastings.
SATURDAY 15th OCTOBER
Meeting of the Section committees at the Royal Victoria hotel
in the morning. For those who are not delegates from their
sections there is free time to stroll down to Hastings Old
Town. Lunch back at the hotel followed by return to Battle
Abbey for Re-Enactment of the Battle of Hastings and a look at
the new Anniversary Exhibitions. Return to hotel for drinks
reception with members of the Morgan Club de France
followed by fish and chip supper at the Azur Restaurant and
bonfire and fireworks off Hastings pier.
DIMANCHE 16 OCTOBRE
Dégustation de vins anglais et déjeuner au ‘English Wine
Centre’ d’Alfriston suivi d’une excursion en car par route
panoramique au Pavillon de Brighton (avec guide
francophone). Réception et diner de clôture au Royal Victoria
Hôtel.
SUNDAY 16th OCTOBER
Wine tasting & lunch at the English Wine Centre in Alfriston
followed by scenic drive to Brighton Pavilion for visit (with
French Guide). Return to hotel for Drinks Reception and
Farewell Gala Dinner.
LUNDI 17 OCTOBRE
Départ des participants (Portsmouth et l’aéroport de Gatwick).
MONDAY 17th OCTOBER
Delegates depart to Portsmouth & Gatwick Airport.
