Anémie infectieuse des équidés
Un foyer d’Anémie infectieuse des équidés a été confirmé sur l’île de La Réunion (974). Ce foyer a été déclaré le
20 février quand un âne a été affecté. Le diagnostic a été établi par un test sérologique. L’animal infecté est mort.
L’âne montrait des signes d’abattement et un décubitus. Un décret a été déposé pour ce lieu de détention le 22
février.
Avortement à HVE 1
Onze foyers d’avortement à HVE 1 ont été rapportés dont quatre concernés des chevaux Pur-Sang, deux des
Selles Français et un des Trotteurs Français. Ces foyers étaient localisés dans les départements suivants :
Calvados (14), Eure (27), Haute-Garonne (31), Manche (50), Orne (61) et Haute-Savoie (74).
Avortement à HVE 4
Deux cas d’avortement à HVE 4 ont été rapportés, le premier concernait un Pur-Sang dans le Calvados (14) et le
second se situait dans le Finistère (29).
Gourme
Sept foyers ont été déclarés dont deux concernés des Selles Français, un Shetland, un cheval Arabe et un Paso
Fino. Ces foyers étaient localisés dans les départements suivants : Charente (16), Charente-Maritime (17), Pasde-Calais (62), Hautes-Pyrénées (65), Yvelines (78) et Haute-Vienne (87). Les chevaux affectés ont présenté du
jetage, de l’hyperthermie et de l’adénopathie, associés à de la toux dans certains foyers. Les diagnostics ont été
effectués par PCR sur écouvillon naso-pharyngé.
Infection respiratoire à HVE 1
Le 18 février, un foyer d’infection respiratoire à HVE 1 a été confirmé dans un centre d’entraînement du Tarn-etGaronne (82). Le cheval positif était un Trotteur Français vacciné qui a présenté de la toux, du jetage et de
l’hyperthermie. Le diagnostic a été fait par PCR sur écouvillon naso-pharyngé. Deux autres chevaux de l’effectif
étaient infectés.
Deux foyers (trois cas pour l’un et cinq cas pour l’autre) d’infection respiratoire à HVE 1 ont été confirmés le 29
mars dans le Calvados (14). Dans les deux foyers, le diagnostic a été établi par PCR sur écouvillon nasopharyngé.
Le 5 avril, un foyer d’infection respiratoire à HVE 1 a été déclaré dans la Manche (50) sur quatre chevaux affectés.

Le 11 avril, un foyer d’infection respiratoire à HVE 1 a été rapporté dans le Calvados (14) sur un cheval. Le

Infection respiratoire à HVE 4
Vingt-sept foyers d’infection respiratoire à HVE 4 ont été confirmés : 8 sur des Trotteurs Français, 7 sur des PurSang, 2 sur des Selles Français, 2 sur des Quarter Horse, 1 sur un Arabe, 1 sur un Lusitanien et 1 sur un OI. Ces
foyers sont arrivés dans les départements suivants : Allier (03), Calvados (14), Maine-et-Loire (49), Manche (50),
Oise (60), Orne (61), Seine-Maritime (76), Var (83) et Hauts-de-Seine (92). Les chevaux affectés ont montré les
signes cliniques suivants : toux, jetage et hyperthermie, associés à de l’abattement et de l’anorexie dans certains
foyers. Le diagnostic a été établi par PCR sur écouvillon naso-pharyngé.
Myéloencéphalite à HVE 1
Le 17 juin, un foyer de myéloencéphalite à HVE 1 a été confirmé dans une écurie de sport dans le Gard (30). Le
cheval infecté était un Poney Français de Selle non vacciné. Il a montré de l’abattement, de l’ataxie, de
l’hyperthermie, une parésie et de la toux. Le diagnostic a été établi par PCR sur écouvillon naso-pharyngé.

Piroplasmose
Endémique en France.
Rotavirus
Sept foyers de rotavirus ont été rapportés impliquant 2 chevaux Pur-Sang, 2 Trotteur Français et 1 Selle Français.
Ces foyers étaient localisés dans les départements suivants : Calvados (14), Eure (27), Orne (61), Sarthe (72) et
Yvelines (78). Les chevaux affectés présentaient des signes cliniques de diarrhée dans quatre foyers. Le
diagnostic a été établi par PCR sur du crottin.
Aucun cas de Fièvre du West Nile, Grippe équine, Artérite virale équine et Métrite contagieuse équine n’a
été rapporté.

Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA)
One outbreak of equine infectious anaemia was confirmed in the Island La Réunion (974). This outbreak occurred

on 20 February where one Donkey was affected. Diagnosis was made by serological testing and the affected
animal is dead. The donkey showed clinical signs of recumbency and weakness. A decree was published for this

farm on 22 February.
EHV1 Abortive disease
Eleven outbreaks have been reported, four on Thoroughbred, two on French Saddlebred and one on French
Trotter. These premises occurred in Calvados (14), Eure (27), Haute-Garonne (31), Manche (50), Orne (61) and
Haute-Savoie (74).
EHV4 Abortive disease
Two cases of EHV4 abortive disease have been reported, the first one on one Thoroughbred in Calvados (14) and
the second one in Finistère (29).
Strangles
Seven outbreaks have been reported with two on French Saddlebred, one on Shetland pony, one on Arabian and
one on Paso Fino. These outbreaks occurred in Charente (16), Charente-Maritime (17), Pas-de-Calais (62),
Hautes-Pyrénées (65), Yvelines (78) and Haute-Vienne (87). Affected horses showed clinical signs of nasal
discharge, hyperthermia and lymphadenopathy, associated with cough in some outbreaks. A positive diagnosis
was made by PCR of a nasal swab.
EHV1 Respiratory Disease

On 18 February an outbreak of equine herpes virus-1 was confirmed in a training centre in Tarn-et-Garonne (82).
The affected horse was a vaccinated French Trotter and showed clinical signs of cough, nasal discharge and
hyperthermia. A positive diagnosis was made by PCR of a nasal swab. Two other horses were affected.

Two outbreaks (one of three cases and one of five cases) of EHV-1 respiratory disease were confirmed on 29
March in Calvados (14). A diagnosis was made by PCR of a nasal swab.

outbreaks occurred in Allier (03), Calvados (14), Maine-et-Loire (49), Manche (50), Oise (60), Orne (61), SeineMaritime (76), Var (83) and Hauts-de-Seine (92). Affected horses showed clinical signs of cough, nasal discharge
and hyperthermia, associated with weariness and anorexia in some outbreaks. A positive diagnosis was made by
PCR of a nasal swab.
EHV1 Neurological Disease

On 17 June an outbreak of equine herpes virus-1 was confirmed in a sport center in Gard (30). The affected
horse was a non-vaccinated French saddlebred pony of 10 years old. The animal showed clinical signs of
weariness, ataxia, hyperthermia, paresis and coughing. A positive diagnosis was made by PCR of a nasal swab.
Piroplasmosis
Remains endemic in France.

Rotavirus
Seven outbreaks have been reported with two on Thoroughbred, two on French Trotter and one on French
Saddlebred. These outbreaks occurred in Calvados (14), Eure (27), Orne (61), Sarthe (72) and Yvelines (78).
Affected horses showed clinical signs of diarrhea in four outbreaks. A positive diagnosis was made by PCR of
dropping.
No cases of WND, EI, EVA, EIA and CEM have been reported.
