Thanks to its industrial and commercial presence in 118 countries, Renault imagines,
creates, builds and distributes innovating, safe and ecological vehicles in the whole
world.
Its 126 584 collaborators elaborate a paying growing strategy, around three main ideas
: competitiveness, innovation, internationalization.
As the first European brand, and the only car constructor which offers 8 5-stars-marked
vehicles by EuroNCAP, and thanks to its title of car constructor and Formula One’s
piloting World Champion, Renault increases its international development with Logan’s
launching and continues its partnership with Nissan.
The need
In such a production factory, video surveillance has fast been identified, by the group’s
direction, as an element which would be necessary to the security and reception staff.
The challenge can be summarized in a few lines : “To use an Ethernet network
dedicated on optical fibres according to the links’ length“, “To use the biggest part of
the existing cameras and turrets” , “To put at the head office’s disposal real time videos
and recordings through a WEB server reachable from all posts.
The result
DIGISYS proposed its VSC software, some redundant optical fibres network equipments
and a specific transcoding box which was able to use back all existing equipments. This
“black box” was developed by DIGISYS R & D Department and thanks to it Renault
saved almost 100 000 Euros because 80% of the video equipments had been kept.
What was left in the installation has been realised in 3 weeks with a perfectly controlled
before/after switch.
Retained knowledge
An anecdote summarizes this business well. An interviewed manager answered to the
question “What’s the main difference between your old system and the new one ? “ ,
by : “It’s like the difference between day and night ! “
