Zonta International District 27 Invitation 9th District 27 Conference Bremen Germany 30 Sept. – 02 Oct. 2011 Zonta International 9th District 27 Conference 30 Sept. – 02 Oct. 2011 Bremen, Germany Table of contents 2 Page Invitation 9th Zonta International District 27 Conference 30 Sept. – 02 Oct. 2011 Bremen, Germany Welcome to Bremen! Bremen, over 1,200 years old, is a port city on the river Weser and was one of the leading members of the Hanseatic League. It is an important commercial and industrial centre trading in cotton, wool, and tobacco. Bremen is the most significant centre of aerospace development in Germany. It is responsible for key European contributions to the International Space Station ISS, such as the Columbus space lab, and for the wings production of Airbus aircrafts. The ornate Weser-Renaissance Rathaus (Townhall) and the grand old statue of Roland erected on the market square (both UNESCO World Heritage) are two of the city’s most famous landmarks. Another one is the famous Town Musicians statue featuring the donkey, dog, cat and rooster inspired from the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale. The Schnoor, part of the old city, is beautiful, vivid and colourful with a smart atmosphere, art galleries, shops, restaurants…. Bremen is the host city for our 9th District 27 Conference. The Conference will be held in the Atlantic Grand Hotel located in the middle of all these exciting places. The conference starts with the official opening ceremony in the Rathaus where we are the guests of the Senator of the City of Bremen. It is our honour to welcome Jacqueline Beaudry, ZC of Milwaukee, U.S.A, International Director and also our liaison with the Zonta International Board. Some main points of a District Conference are to ensure the future by electing the new District Board for the biennium 2012-2014, to evaluate the programs of our 7 areas and to actualize our District rules. We also present you an exciting sightseeing program where guests are welcome. Participate in the Conference! Zonta offers you the opportunity to enjoy your stay and to meet friends from Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland and Ukraine. We offer you an interesting Zonta experience and we look forward to welcome you in Bremen! You will never forget the 9th District 27 Conference and your stay in Bremen!
