HSPP Service Guide For On Site Repairs Program
1. Broken Glass
Unit cannot be repaired on-site. Give customer loaner and return broken unit to shop for repairs.
2. Error #1
Open front of unit and test probe by checking an ohms reading on the “INF” connecting wire. This
should read 1.1 K ohms at 77 degrees F. If reading is correct, replace main control board and test unit.
If reading is incorrect, give customer loaner and return broken unit to shop for repairs.
3. Error #2
Test wire to upper platen temp probe at rear wire connector. Value is 1.1 K Ohms at 77 degrees F,
NOTE: Upper probe connector is marked “SUP” if value is incorrect replace upper platen, do not
disassemble and replace the probe itself. If value is correct, check for continuity to connector wire
(0D6984) from board to junction point. Wire is marked as “SUP” at the control board. If wire is bad,
replace wire. If wire is good replace control board. Test unit.
4. Error #3
Check the transformer cooling fan, if the fan is not working it will cause the transformer to overheat
and cause error 3. Ensure the probe wires on control board at connection labeled “CTN” (middle
connector) are connected properly. If wires are connected properly and unit is still getting error, replace
transformer. Test unit.
5. Error #4 (Front Magnetron Error)
Check the high voltage fuse. If fuse is blown replace fuse and check wiring. Test unit. If error
continues to exist or fuse blows again give customer loaner and return broken unit to shop for repairs.
6. Error #5 (Rear Magnetron Error)
Procedure is the same as for Error #4.
7. Error #6
Check the clear glass 160ma fuse located on the board next to terminal #1 on the control board. If
fuse is blown, replace fuse and check S3 switch and associated wiring. In checking S3 switch; ensure the
switch actuates properly at the correct point and stays actuated when upper platen is down. The switch
should be closed when lid is open and open when lid is closed, it changes when the lid is about 7” from
closed position. Check the front switch alignments (S1 and S2) and that they are working properly, this
can give an error 6 and not blow the fuse. If this does not take care of error 6 give customer loaner and
return broken unit to shop for repairs.
8. Burned Choke Cover
Perform repair on site. After repair is completed tag unit “not to be used for 24 hours”, note this on
work order, have manager sign for this information, and leave unit at the store for them to place on
counter the next day.
9. Handle broken or loose.
Perform repair on site. Tighten any parts necessary. Always use Loctite on all screws, if you replace
handle adjust the Magnet plate properly.
10. Lid not latching
Check to see if the handle is lined up properly, not loose and magnetic receiver washer is adjusted
correctly. Check for 208 volts at Connector 10 on the board when cycle starts. Check high limits on both
Magnetrons to see if it may be open. If open check Magnetron cooling fans. If magnet still doesn’t work
check for continuity on contact 13 and 14 on KS1 when cycle starts. Check the proximity switches.
Ensure the switches are flat against the front panel and straight. If switches are not aligned, align them.
If switches are shorted or broken, replace them. If error still exists give customer loaner and return
broken unit to shop for repairs.
11. Unit does not come out of preheat
Check lower probe (refer to Error #1 procedure). Check upper probe (refer to Error #2 procedure).
Check upper and lower heating elements. If upper element is bad replace upper platen on site only, if
lower element is bad: give customer loaner and return broken unit to shop for repairs.
12. Customer complains that product internal temp is too low
Panera company guidelines is temp product after 1 minute and product is to be above
120 degrees F. If there is any question regarding product temperature refer to Panera Corporate
guidelines and Jim Tusing.
