Job Description / Description de poste
The Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) is staffed by a small team of individuals
dedicated to providing support for midwives and the profession of midwifery across Canada.
CAM is looking for an experienced, take charge professional to manage the administration and
logistics of the association’s annual conference and exhibit under the direction of the Executive
Director.

équipe d’individus dévoués à soutenir les sages femmes et la pratique sage femme à travers
le Canada. L’ACSF est à la recherche d’un professionnel pour gérer l’organisation et
l’administration du congrès et de l’exposition annuel de l’association sous la direction de la
directrice générale. (NB : Environnement de travail bilingue mais la communication avec les fournisseurs se
fait majoritairement en anglais)
Responsibilities
Event Planning and Production
• Liaise with venue for meeting room requirements, food and beverage, shipping and
handling of conference exhibit materials and order supplies and audiovisual equipment
according to budgets.
• Manage event budget, maintain accounting of revenues and expenses and provide
periodic progress reports to Executive Director.
• Prepare and disseminate exhibitor and sponsorship guide, secure and increase event
sponsorship and donations and maintain ongoing communication with exhibitors.
• Liaise with the Program Planning Committee and participate on the Local Organizing
Committee.
• Liaise with committees and organizations requiring preconference meeting space.
• Oversee production and distribution of promotional material, preliminary and final
conference programs.
• Maintain updated conference website.
• Recruit, train and manage volunteers on-site.
• Coordinate all on-site logistics.
• Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
• Prepare and distribute online evaluation for delegates and exhibitors and prepare final
report.

Assist on other related projects as requested by the Executive Director.
Knowledge and skill requirements
• Experience planning and coordinating conferences (minimum 2 to 3 years experience in
event planning).
• Marketing knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills including: writing, proof reading, and speaking.
• Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize and multi-task.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
Additional Assets
• Communication skills in French (verbal and written) an asset.
• Fundraising experience.
• Experience using social media.
Working Conditions
One year maternity leave replacement. 21hrs/week starting September 10th, 2013.
Competitive salary based on experience.
Location
Montréal (LaSalle), Québec
Requires availability to travel to Ottawa for the annual conference from November 5th to 8th,
2013.
