To reach our objectives we need to
make changes that will result in:
• Athletes performing where and when it is
important
– Higher quality training group and more
individualization of the support, training and racing
program
– Concerted effort on improving the shooting
success of our athletes and speed
– Improving integration of IST to better monitor
athlete health
– Athletes positively focusing on what they have to
do to perform.

Higher quality training group and
more individualization of the support,
training and racing program
• Reduce number of athletes on the National Team training
groups and make them work more often all together
• Greater individualization of the training and racing program
and engage specialists with athletes
• Increased periodization of the WC and IBU Cup Tours
• Support developing athletes to mature through appropriate
racing opportunities
• Partner with Regional Training Centers (RTC) to promote
development of the next generation of athletes
• RTCs partner with division coaches

Concerted effort on improving the
shooting success of our athletes

• Shooting analysis Salzburg University x 2
• Work with specialist (Jean-Pierre Amat)
• Technical support for the Rifles
– Annual evaluation of the rifle by armourer
– Ammunition, Barrel, Bedding, and Sight testing

Athletes positively focus on what
they have to do to perform
• Athlete will get support on logistical and technical
aspects like rifle repairs, skis, extra luggage…
• Athlete will have good knowledge and understanding
of the NTP,
NTP selection process and the integrated
criteria before the beginning of the season
• Athlete will know well in advance what their
contribution will be for training and racing expenses
• Their will be a simplified structure this year for tour
fees – moving to no tour fees, only training fees

Advantages of no tour fees
• Athletes know at beginning of season what the
have to budget and be focus on their training
• Help in the transition this year
• Athlete will race where we want them to race (no
money influence)
• Athlete won’t have to pay to represent Canada on
the international scene

Biathlon Canada will be required to assess a
training centre fee:
