As long as Aurore Dal Mas performance / sound installation Preview 30 october 2014 Recyclart, Bruxelles (BE) As long as Public preview Thursday 30 october 20h + 20h45 Free (02 502 57 34) Address: Recyclart (Studio Marcel), 13 rue des Ursulines, 1000 Bruxelles Conception, Aurore Dal Mas With Colline Etienne, Pierre Wattiaux, Ludwig Van Waes Sound by Cédric Castus With the support of Smart Duration +/- 20 minutes About As long as, performance and installation, evokes ancestral fears through symbolic images of fire, shadow, death ; this in a paradoxically calm and stable atmosphere. To the sound of fire answers to the instinctual wisdom of a living owl on a pedestal, as the guardian who knows how to differenciate the alarm from the mythic and regenerating fire ; then a mysterious figure is repeatedly and very slowly collapsing and recovering her posture, reminding at the same time a scultpure, a black virgin, and a ghost; to end up with a fight between two men, where pain and ressentment seem to evaporate in each new breath they take. All scenes have no real beginning and no end, as the title of the work – « As long as » is an infinite movement, presented as a physical experience for the viewer – this one becoming the resonator of each proposed scene or living image. The key of those three scenes is the air – or what moves us. Essential element which allows fire to be maintained, emotivity to calm down, body to take back its form. It underlies all the living and regenerates everything. « As long as » wants to get deep in the wild and benefic essence of the images it shows – beyond their possible violent or negative connotations in our actual society. This project evokes what cannot be exhausted, what reconstitutes and perpetues itself, tirelessly. This project was first shown in Recyclart, in three small contiguous rooms for an audience of 15 people at a time to allow intimacy with the scenes. However it is adaptable to different kind of spaces, different capacity room and spatial arrangement to become an in situ perfomance. A video captation was made during this preview, as a communication tool – the idea being to keep this project a live experience. © AURORE DAL MAS AURORE DAL MAS * 1981, BE + 32 479 349 653 35, rue de Dublin 1050 Bruxelles (B) [email protected] www.auroredalmas.com Projects 2014 19-30 november - What troubles and weighs, solo show, Chapelle de Boondael, Brussels Solo shows: 2014 - What troubles and weighs, 44 Gallery, Bruges 2013 - Polvere, WALK#2, Bruxelles 2012 - Ultima, Musée de la photographie of Charleroi (sept. 2012 - janvier 2013) with the support of WBI) - Déserts WALK#1, Micro Festival de Photographie, Bruxelles/Ixelles 2009 - PGAV-Congrès, Gare Bruxelles-Congrès - B-Gallery, photos and sculptures, Bruxelles 2006 - Photogallery asbl, Bruxelles Group shows 2014 Festival Circulations, Paris, Carte Blanche à Xavier Canonne (Musée de la Photographie, Charleroi) 2013 Water Tower Art Fest, Sofia (BG) Oodaaq, festival, Rennes (F) Intempéries, CC de Huy (B) 2012 Fotofever Art Fair, Tours&Taxis, Bruxelles Burning Up !, La Cambre, Bruxelles 2011 Artisti in Isola Comacina (avec Peter De Cupere), Isola Comacina, Italie Proposition d’Artistes, Contretype, Bruxelles 2010 A Sentimental Journey, CWAC La Châtaigneraie, Flémalle (B) 2009 Portfolio II, projection + musique live, Recyclart, Bruxelles Musée de la Photo de Charleroi/ Galerie du Soir 9.9 Galerij, Roulers (B), mars-mai 2008 Galerie 100Titres, Bruxelles Art Contest, Bruxelles Festival Voies Off, Arles (F) 2007 Prix Jeunes Artistes, sélectionnée, Parlement de la Communauté française (B) White Hotel, photos, son et installation, Bruxelles Prix Médiatine, sélectionnée, Bruxelles 2006 Portfolio, Recyclart Bruxelles Projections vidéo: 2009 - Périscope 2, Le Vecteur, Charleroi - Vidéothèque Nomade, 6870 asbl, film Parking (6min20, 2004) repris au catalogue 2006 - Courtisane festival, projection ,Gand (B) 2005 - Argos, Court-métrage projeté, section Belgian Focus pour le festival annuel, Bruxelles Others: 2013 - Residency à l’iselp, Bruxelles, nov-déc 2013, with Sandrine Morgante 2013 - Residency RAVI, Liège, mai-juillet - Bourse d’accompagnement Smart 2012, 2013 - co-organisatrice du festival WALK# still & moving images 2011 - Résidence Isola Comacina, Isola Comacina/Ossuccio, Italie (avec le soutien de WBI)
