Hello, My name is Borja Chastang Reyes and I am from Spain. I
Hello,
My name is Borja Chastang Reyes and I am from Spain. I completed my Erasmus year at the Université
Savoie Mont Blanc in Chambéry and it was one of the most rewarding experiences and truly a life-changing
program.
What made this experience so incredible was a combination of Chambery’s breath-taking beauty, kindness
and hospitality of French people, new friendships and of course, the Faculty of Law itself. The courses are
very interesting and the teachers, French students and the staff are very kind. Moreover, they are always
willing to help you even if you don’t manage quite well the language, you won’t have any problem.
Chambery is a little city but very interesting at the same time. I lived in the Residence Foyer des Alpes that
is in the city center. Living in a residence allowed me to meet a lot of people from different countries
Canada, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, South Korea, the USA, Japan, Poland, and Belgium. We always
talked in French and this is the best way to learn a language. We frequently organised dinner to know us
better and to taste the typical plates from the different countries and we went to O’Poghes or Charly’s Pub
in the weekend.
In addition, Chambery is the place to be, if you like skiing or trekking due to its perfect localisation in
French Alps. Le Lac de Bourget is a must see and you can swim there in September or in summer but it
depends on the weather. Anyway, Chambery is very well located to travel around Europe or in France
because Geneva Airport is not so far and you can book cheap flights with Easyjet, anyway, Lyon is just one
hour by train and in December you must go there to celebrate La Fête des Lumières.
At the end, after receiving my Certificate of attendance, it was the hardest “goodbye” I had ever said. I
returned home to Spain and brought a lot with me, such as true friendships, knowledge, memories and lots
of Savoyard cheese, but a little part of my heart was missing… I left it in Chambery.
Definitely, if you have the opportunity to go to the Faculty of Law in Chambery, go there, you won’t
regret !
Thank you very much Faculty of Law and Chambery for everything!
