about the Sound Pellegrino label
It doesn’t take an expert in musical genres and movements
to find out that over the last 2 years, a new musical family has
built itself on the ruins of loud big-beat-like fidget and overly
distorted washing machine electro. Inspired by the “less is
more” ethics of minimal techno as much as the “DIY/sampleanything-as-long-as-it’s-got-attitude” philosophy of hip-hop,
this new un-named form of groovy and refreshing house
music is rising and —originally an Institubes’ “little brother
label”— Sound Pellegrino is proud to be on the forefront of
such an exciting phenomenon.
Pas besoin d’être un observateur particulièrement expert
des genres et tendances musicales pour remarquer que ces
deux dernières années, une nouvelle famille musicale s’est
dégagée des ruines fumantes de l’électro tronçonneuse
et des turbines du revival big beat. Aussi bien inspirée
par l’éthique “less is more” de la techno minimale que la
philosophie DIY et l’approche au sampling du hip hop, cette
nouvelle scène house fraîche et groovy est en plein essor
et Sound Pellegrino est fier d’être aux avant-postes du
phénomène.
Curated by renowned DJs and taste makers ORGASMIC and
TEKI LATEX, (from pioneer electronic hip hop outfit TTC – Teki
also happens to be one of the founders of Institubes), Sound
Pellegrino has quickly established itself as one of the labels
to reckon with, releasing singles by Zombie Disco Squad,
Renaissance Man, Harvard Bass, Momma’s Boy, L-VIS 1990,
Para One, Gucci Vump and Douster (amongst others) and
generating interest by A-List DJs
from all ends of the dance music
spectrum such as Laidback Luke,
Boys Noize, A-Trak, Bart B More,
Sinden, Pete Tong, Claude Von
Stroke, Tiesto, Riva Starr, Ivan
Smagghe, Laurent Garnier, Chloé
to name a few.

Today Orgasmic and Teki Latex, the
two public faces of the label, unite
to form the SOUND PELLEGRINO
THERMAL TEAM and they are
ready to take that movement to a club near you. Even though
their teaming up behind the turntables is rather recent, these
two have known each other for 15 years and have released
countless collaborations. Going through various musical
phases, they have always kept a will to explore forwardthinking dance music that will make the crowd go crazy
without sounding stale and outdated.
Mixing ingredients ranging from tribal rhythms, pumping tech
house and mini baltimore to warped funky sounds with a slice
of club rap thrown in for good mesure, the Thermal Team’s
mineral cocktail promises to bring something refreshing and
bubbly to the table. With already 5 mixes acclaimed by the
blogosphere under their belt, the A&R and helming of the 20
releases of Sound Pellegrino’s exemplary catalog, as well as
remixes for the likes of L-Vis 1990 or Momma’s Boy out and
the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team debut EP scheduled for
June 2011, this new combination of already well established
forces is ready to take the house music world by storm.
December 2010: they debut their top iTunes-charting
SOUND PELLEGRINO PODCAST, a weekly one-hour show
during which they play exclusives from the label and its huge
extended family.

avant-gardistes de la musique club pour enflammer le
dancefloor et le refus du statu quo. Qu’ils piochent dans les
rythmes tribaux ou la tech house musclée, la mini baltimore
ou un néo funk tordu sans oublier un peu de rap club pour
faire bonne mesure, le cocktail minéral servi par la Thermal
Team est toujours frais et pétillant.
Avec 5 mixes déjà classiques et acclamés par la blogosphère
via Mixcloud, la direction artistique des 20 références de
l’impeccable catalogue du label, des remixes pour L-Vis
1990 et Momma’s Boy, et leur premier EP annoncé pour
début Juin 2011, ce tandem est prêt à secouer le milieu de la
house en profondeur.

Launched in December 2010, The Sound Pellegrino Podcast
is a one-hour weekly show curated, mixed and hosted by
Orgasmic & Teki Latex aka Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team.
Recorded between friends in Teki’s computer room with a top
secret hardware setup (read: very rudimentary) somewhere
in Paris, it has quickly become the reference podcast for the
new breed of forward-thinking club and electronica music and
has no equivalent.
Lancé en Décembre 2010, le Sound Pellegrino Podcast est
une émission hebdomadaire d’une heure mixée et animée
par Orgasmic & Teki Latex aka Sound Pellegrino Thermal
Team. Enregistrée entre amis dans la computer room de
l’appartement de Teki sur un matériel classé top secret
(autrement dit : très rudimentaire) quelque part à Paris, elle
est vite devenu le rendez-vous de référence et sans égal de la
musique club et l’électronica d’avant-garde.

podcasts in France in less than 3 weeks. Since then, The
Sound Pellegrino Podcast has been the #1 top downloaded
music podcast in France four weeks in a row then numerous
times again, and remains in the Top 10 every week during the
days following the upload of a new episode.

formidable du public ravi de voir naître un show hebdomadaire

We’ve started Sound Pellegrino in 2009 as a cut-the-middleman, immediate outlet for all our club music crushes, mostly
ranging all-across the House Music spectrum, and as a nest
for specific side-projects and releases from artists we admire,
tour with or helped growing.
Nous avons conçu Sound Pellegrino comme un canal direct
de sorties pour nos coups de cœur club, principalement
dans le registre House et ses sous-familles, et comme un
nid pour les projets spéciaux d’artistes que nous admirons,
fréquentons, des gens que nous croisons sur les line-up des
clubs du monde entier ou que nous avons aidé à s’épanouir.
The label kickstarted the careers of new names such as
Harvard Bass or Panteros666, showcased the first outing of
new duos composed of very familiar names such as Nouveau
Yorican or Gucci Vump, has proudly carried exciting singles
from modern club champions such as Zombie Disco Squad,
Douster, Renaissance Man, Savage Skulls, Bart B More,
Style Of Eye, Noob and TWR72, and old family members
such as Para One or High Powered Boys, often tailor-made
for Sound Pellegrino.
As our label enters its third year
— rightfully initiated with the
“Bassface” EP, very first official
release from founding tandem
Teki Latex & Orgasmic under the
Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team
moniker — we’ve been thinking
of different ways of venturing into
new grounds and trying to break
the modus operandi of digital labels
sometimes prone to aesthetical
self-parody and routines (yes of
course, that includes us).
Enter the SOUND PELLEGRINO CROSSOVER SERIES.
The idea is quite simple: we offer two artists, whom we know
secretly share a great deal of mutual respect but have never
worked together, to compose an EP for Sound Pellegrino.
One week session, total experimentation, amazing results
and happy surprises all around.
We’re extremely happy to be able to announce the first three
opuses:

SNP 027: JOAKIM & BAMBOUNOU (december 19th 2011)
SNP 032: SURKIN & TODD EDWARDS (august 27th 2011)
Le label a démarré les carrières de nouvelles têtes comme
Harvard Bass ou Panteros666, hébergé les premières sorties
de tandems formés par des artistes plus familiers comme
Nouveau Yorican ou Gucci Vump, a eu le plaisir de publier de
superbes singles des champions de la scène actuelle comme
Zombie Disco Squad, Douster, Renaissance Man, Savage
Skulls, Bart B More, Style Of Eye, Noob et TWR72, et des
amis de toujours comme Para One
ou High Powered Boys, qui pour la
plupart ont composé des EPs sur
mesure pour nous.
Alors que nous entamons notre
troisième année — logiquement
initiée par le premier EP “Bassface”
du duo Teki Latex & Orgasmic,
directeurs artistiques du label, sous
le nom Sound Pellegrino Thermal
Team — nous avons réfléchi à des
nouvelles pistes à explorer et à des
manières de rompre un peu avec le
modus operandi des labels digitaux
parfois proie à l’auto-parodie esthétique ou à une certaine
routine (et nous n’en sommes évidemment pas exempts).
Notre réponse : la SOUND PELLEGRINO CROSSOVER
SERIES.
L’idée en est assez simple : nous proposons à deux artistes
s’admirant secrètement l’un l’autre mais n’ayant jamais
travaillé ensemble de composer un EP pour Sound Pellegrino.
Une semaine de studio, d’expérimentation totale, donnant
lieu à d’heureuses surprises et de prodigieux résultats.
C’est avec un grand plaisir que nous pouvons en annoncer
les trois premiers opus :

In association with Savoir Faire (Social Club, Silencio,
Wanderlust, Bromance Records), Sound Pellegrino presents
its first music festival in order to celebrate the third anniversary
of the label.

label.
After 30 releases spanning all across the electronic spectrum,
the label is now at the forefront of the forward-thinking club
scene.
Devenu en quelques années le fer de lance d’une scène
avant-gardiste à la résonnance mondiale, avec une trentaine
de sorties explorant une grande partie du spectre de la
musique électronique.
For the first edition that took place on April 6-7-8 at Social Club

Our cultural almanach of short-term prospective thinking
Our label turns three. Three years of parties, rarely
photographed or filmed. Three years of electronic music, 93%
of it instrumental. Three years of releases, 26 out of 30 are
digital-only. Three years of expression on all social networks,
defunct and surviving ones.
Maybe it was time for us to share a little more of our passions,
concerns, hopes, hobbies, perversions and taste, beyond the
output of our label. So there you go.
L’ANNUEL is our magazine, the
pluridisciplinary companion to the
Sound Pellegrino Festival. Us and
our friends, trying to predict the
near future in architecture, cinema,
politics, music, communication,
health and many others fields, how
to adapt —and sometimes being
really silly at it.
L’Annuel est une revue présentée par Sound Pellegrino
notre almanach culturel pluridisciplinaire de prospective
à court terme
Notre label a trois ans. Trois ans de fêtes, rarement
capturées. Trois ans de musique électronique, instrumentale
à 93%. Trois ans de sorties discographiques, 26 sur 30 sont
uniquement digitales. Trois ans d’expression sur tous les
réseaux sociaux, certains défunts.
