EDHD INNOVATES
WITH A HYDRAULIC DRILL
FOR THE STEEL INDUSTRY
EDHD, a Dunkirk-based company specialising in diesel
engines, industrial hydraulics and mobile hydraulics,
has made innovation part of its corporate culture. The
family-owned SME (105 employees and 15 million Euros
turnover in 2014) has just demonstrated this once
again by the complete creation of a hydraulic drill,
according to extremely precise specifications, for
a major steel industry firm operating in Dunkirk.
The 6 engineers and technicians of the design office
have applied all their skills and know-how in the
kinematics and mobile part of this machine, which
also boasts a radio-controlled camera. This innovation
will enable the steel manufacturer to modernise its
converter casting system and optimise the visualisation
of the work. It has taken three years of work and
reflection to create this hydraulic drill which has just
been installed on the client’s premises. If it lives up
to expectations in terms of strength and reliability,
EDHD may duplicate the model on request for
other steel companies.

STRENGTHENS ITS DEVELOPMENT
PSE, one of the 3 entities of the Pacquet Industrie group
based in Hondschoote, which has a workforce of 45, has just moved
into new premises of 900 m2 (including 600 m2 of workshop space)
adjoining a storage area and a showroom of 1,000 m2. The group’s
investment of nearly 2 million Euros should enable this SME, the only
French designer and manufacturer of loading arms and safety walkways
for tank domes, to reinforce its development in France and then abroad.
PSE has a staff of 13 and a turnover of 3 million Euros, and with the
expertise to respond precisely to its clients’ technical, safety and
above all in terms of innovation with several patents filed, the company
now wants to increase its export market share significantly. In the
next 2 years it aims to create a full-scale distribution network, first
in the countries surrounding northern France, and then in the rest
of Europe.

UNE FOREUSE HYDRAULIQUE
POUR LA SIDÉRURGIE
EDHD, spécialiste dunkerquois des moteurs diesel,
de l’hydraulique industrielle et de l’hydraulique mobile,
a fait de l’innovation une vraie culture d’entreprise.
La PME familiale (105 salariés, 15 millions d’euros de
chiffre d’affaires en 2014) vient de le démontrer une
nouvelle fois en créant intégralement suivant un cahier
des charges extrêmement précis, une foreuse hydraulique
pour un grand nom de la sidérurgie, implanté à Dunkerque.
Les 6 ingénieurs et techniciens du bureau d’études ont
notamment mis toutes leurs compétences et leur savoir-faire
sur la partie mobile et cinématique de cette machine,
complétée par une caméra radiocommandée. Une
innovation qui va permettre au sidérurgiste de moderniser
son système de coulée de convertisseur et d’optimiser
la visualisation du travail. Trois années de travail et de
réflexion ont été nécessaires pour créer cette foreuse
hydraulique qui vient d’être installée chez le client.
Si elle tient ses promesses en termes de robustesse
et de fiabilité, EDHD ne s’interdit pas de dupliquer
le modèle à la demande pour d’autres sidérurgistes.

will be held again on 17 November
2015 in the Palais du Littoral de
Grande-Synthe. This second edition
is being organised jointly by the
Côte d’Opale Business Clubs
Federation, which comprises
11 Business Clubs, the Côte
d’Opale CCI, Dunkirk Urban
Community and Dunkerque
Promotion. At this Awards ceremony, 12 companies
from the city will be rewarded for their success in terms
of innovation or development, or their environmental and
social action. This economic event will be attended by
600 participants and is sure to be a memorable occasion,
bringing together all the leading stakeholders of the local
and regional economy. All the representatives of local

INVESTMENT TROPHIES
Organised every 3 years by the regional economic promotion
agency Nord France Invest, the “International Investment Trophies”
were designed to reward international companies based in the
Nord-Pas de Calais for their outstanding investments. On 9 June
2015, 5 companies were honoured, including 2 based in the
Dunkirk area: EcoPhos received the prize for responsible
investment, and Kubota the prize for industrial investment.
EcoPhos, which will set up its new production facility in Mardyck,
produces phosphate from poor-quality rocks, so reducing
environmental impact in mining sites and contributing to the
preservation of natural phosphate reserves. Kubota, a European
leader with mini-shovels, compact tractors and industrial diesel
engines of less than 50 CV, decided in 2013 to set up a tractor
assembly plant at Bierne. This means an investment of more
than 40 million Euros and 140 jobs by 2017.

TROPHÉES DE L’INVESTISSEMENT INTERNATIONAL
Créé en 2013 à l’initiative des Clubs d’Entreprises de Grande-Synthe,
Petite-Synthe, Spycker et Armbouts-Cappel, les “Work’Awards”
sont reconduits le 17 novembre 2015 au Palais du littoral de
Grande-Synthe. La 2e édition est organisée par la Fédération
des Clubs d’Entreprises de la Côte d’Opale, comprenant
11 Clubs d’Entreprises, la CCI Côte d’Opale en coédition avec
la Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque et Dunkerque
Promotion. À cette occasion, 12 entreprises du territoire seront
récompensées pour leurs succès en termes d’innovation, de
développement, ou suite à leurs actions environnementales,
sociales et sociétales. Ce rendez-vous économique rassemblera
600 participants et s’impose comme un temps fort réunissant
tous les grands acteurs de l’économie locale et régionale.
Tous les représentants des entreprises du territoire sont
conviés à participer à cette soirée de prestige.
Organisés tous les 3 ans par l’agence de promotion économique
régionale Nord France Invest, les “Trophées de l’Investissement
International” visent à récompenser les entreprises internationales
basées en Nord-Pas de Calais pour leurs investissements remarquables.
Le 9 juin dernier, 5 entreprises ont été mises à l’honneur, dont 2
implantées sur le territoire dunkerquois. EcoPhos a ainsi reçu le prix
de l’investissement responsable et Kubota, le prix de l’investissement
industriel. En effet, EcoPhos qui installera son nouveau site de production
à Mardyck, produit du phosphate à partir de roches pauvres. L’entreprise
réduit ainsi l’impact environnemental dans les sites miniers et contribue
à la préservation des réserves de phosphates naturels. Kubota, n°1 en
Europe avec ses mini-pelles, ses tracteurs compacts et ses moteurs
industriels diesel de moins de 50 CV, a décidé en 2013 d’implanter
un site d’assemblage de tracteurs à Bierne. À la clé, un investissement
de plus de 40 millions d’euros et 140 emplois à horizon 2017.
PACQUET INDUSTRIE RENFORCE SON DÉVELOPPEMENT
PSE, l’une des 3 entités du groupe Pacquet Industrie basée à Hondschoote
(45 salariés), vient d’emménager dans un nouveau local de 900 m2 (dont 600 m2
d’atelier) qui jouxte un espace de stockage ainsi qu’un show-room de 1 000 m2.
L’investissement pour le groupe, de près de 2 millions d’euros, devrait permettre
à cette PME, seul concepteur et fabricant français de bras de chargement et de
passerelles de mise en sécurité des intervenants travaillant en dômes de citerne,
de conforter son développement en France et demain à l’étranger. Forte d’un
savoir-faire qui lui permet de coller aux plus près des exigences techniques,
de sécurité, et surtout d’innovation avec plusieurs brevets déposés, PSE
(13 salariés et 3 millions d’euros de chiffre d’affaires) souhaite maintenant
largement augmenter sa part de marché à l’export. Dans les 2 prochaines années,
l’entreprise ambitionne de créer un véritable réseau de distribution, d’abord,
dans les pays limitrophes du Nord de la France puis dans le reste
de l’Europe.
