Use your senses to find clues and discover a magical side of the Mersey River trail. Wonder who or what we'll find? Sign-up at the Visitor Centre. Meet Colleen and Jill at P2 in Jeremy’s Bay Campground. Bring your bike, helmet, and water bottle. Want to unravel time? Do you want to glimpse into the past and see how the Mi’kmaw people survived this rugged landscape? Join Donna at Merrymakedge P2 3:00- 4:00pm: Mersey Stillwater Paddle Climb aboard our voyageur canoe for a guided tour of the Mersey River. Enjoy the tranquility as you dip your paddle into the still waters and listen to captivating stories of this special place. This is a great trip to get to know Keji, enjoy some iced tea and chocolate, and go on a canoeing adventure. Meet us at the Visitor Centre at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the activity. Register at the Visitor Centre. Limit of 8 passengers. $14.70 per person. 10:30am-Noon: Petroglyph Tour 3:00–4:00pm: Mi'kmaw Animal Words Join Donna on the trail to the petroglyphs and discover some historical and cultural tidbits of Keji. Sign up at Visitor Centre. Meet at Merrymakedge P1. Limit of 20 people. Jill invites you to stop by and learn the names of some animals in Keji - in the Mi'kmaw language. Pick a favourite animal and then make a special card to take with you. Meet Jill at the old canteen at Merrymakedge. 3:00-4:00pm: Man vs. Keji 10:30am-Noon: Petroglyph Tour Join Jill for a walk through time. Learn about Mi’kmaw culture. See and touch the petroglyphs. Whether you are a little lost on your hike or if it’s the zombie Apocalypse, a little survival knowledge could save your life. No my name is not “Bear” but I can still show you a thing or two about survival. Campfire Circle - P2 in Jeremy’s Bay Campground Through the lens of looking back, Ursula and Jill will guide you on a paddle to remember and reconnect with the folk of olden time. Meet at Meadow Beach at 10:00 am. Bring your canoe or rent one from Jake’s Landing. 3:00-4:00pm: Pite’manej (Let’s Have Tea) When the Landscape Changes…So Do The People. Bring your tea mug to the encampment site and visit with Ursula to participate in a hands-on demonstration of making a maple axe handle while chatting about Keji’s history of logging. Club Keji 8:30–9:15 pm: Lethal ‘Low-Tech’ Join Jill as she shares stories about methods of hunting used many years ago in Mi’kma'ki and how this “technology” helped the Mi’kmaq survive. We’ve invited researchers and people who are passionate about nature to come and share stories about their work and adventures in nature.
