Northern Harvest Cooking Club 1pm (Oct. 9)
This is an opportunity for children to cook and explore the weekly
food bins we will receive from the Northern Harvest program.
This is the last week for the Northern Harvest program!
Family Math with Onita and Vikki (Oct. 15, 22 and 29) 5:30 – 7pm
Larder Lake Playgroup 9:30-11am (Oct. 2 & 16)
Join us at the Municipal building gym for free play, art and
activities. All are welcome! Centre is closed in the a.m.
This is a 6 week session and will continue until Nov. 26. Family
Math helps parents and children share their thinking and
understanding of mathematics in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.
When a family has fun working together, and respects each other’s
thought processes, everyone benefits. Free supper.
Obstacle Course 9:30-10 (Oct. 23)
Meet us at the community complex blue line room for an amazing
obstacle course.

Meet at the Teck Centennial children’s library for singing,
SIGNING, stories and crafts! Fun interaction for children 0-6.
Explore the Northern Harvest Food Bin 2pm (Oct. 7)
This is the last week to explore and learn a little about the food
that is grown in our community.
Halloween Costume Exchange (Oct. 30)
Bring in and exchange Halloween costumes with other families.
Aboriginal Culture 10 :30 – 11:30am (Oct. 28)
Join us at the Centre for singing, drumming and activities with
Grandma Marilyn, to learn more about the Aboriginal culture.

Hills Lake Fish Hatchery Tour 10:30am (Oct. 1) Come and see
the spawning fish! Located 23 km west of Englehart off Hwy 560.
Tucker the Turtle with Onita, ELS 10:30am (Oct. 8) A
technique that teaches children to recognize and control their
feelings using the “Turtle Technique” – taking time to “tuck and
think”.
Swastika Playgroup 10-12pm (Oct. 3 & 17)
We will meet at the Riverside Community Church Gym in
Swastika (former Public School) for activities, snack and stories.

Moose Tracks with Onita 11 a.m. (Oct. 4)
Join us for a free lunch and a story. Just in time for hunting season
– a special activity for Dads and their little hunters! We will be
making a moose caller, learning how to call a moose and ending
with looking for moose tracks. Fall fun for everyone!
Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge (Oct. 4)
This annual awareness event invites nursing mothers to participate
on an Ontario wide latch at 11am!
Lil’ Scientists 11a.m. (Oct. 18)
It’s a Physics Solar Workshop and other fun Physics experiments!

Julie, from the THU will join us in a discussion on safety and
nutrition surrounding the Halloween season,
When NO Gets You Nowhere with Vikki (Oct. 22)
Tips, ideas and discussion about alternatives to saying ‘NO’.
