Our profile FDEF Research The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (Faculté de droit, d’economie et de finance - FDEF) at the University of Luxembourg offers a unique academic and research environment. The proximity of several European institutions, a vibrant international financial sector and the presence of innovative industries form natural allies for the FDEF. These are elaborated through sponsoring of Chairs, privileged partnerships but also by professionals teaching select courses at the Faculty’s academic programmes. The academic programmes are usually bilingual (French and English), although a number of Master programmes are taught entirely in English. RESEARCH UNIT IN LAW (RUL) CENTRE FOR RESEARCH IN ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT (CREA) LUXEMBOURG SCHOOL OF FINANCE (LSF) Strategic priorities 2 out of the 4 central priorities set by the University of Luxembourg under its 2014-2017 four year plan fall under the responsibility of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance; namely: · Law, stressing European Law · Luxembourg School of Finance Entrepreneurship and Innovation as well as Audit are also part of a separate group of priorities. Research, teaching and knowledge transfer will form the main axis of future development of these fields. Top grades were allocated both for the Faculty’s two Research Priorities and for the Faculty as a whole. The highest grade “Excellent” was awarded to the Research Priority “European and Business Law”, whereas the “International Finance” Research Priority was graded as “Very Good”. The Faculty also received the highest grade (AA) in Organisation & Management, Research & Innovation received an A, and Teaching & Learning was awarded an A as well. Listing at Financial Times Innovative Law Schools Report since 2011 The Financial Times (FT) 2014 Master of Laws Listing featured, for a fourth year, all three LL.M. programmes offered by the Faculty as part of the annual edition of the famous FT Innovative Law Schools report. The report reviews major developments in global legal education. http://rankings.ft.com/lawschools/rankings ISO 9001 certification 6 In December 2013 the Faculty obtained the renewal of an ISO 9001 certification for its administration and the administrative management of its activities. Based on ISO standard 9001:2008, an international standard recognised worldwide, the Faculty’s approach contributes to reinforcing a quality system and culture, which is driven by a shared attitude and understanding.
