Jörg Gessner Born in 1967 in Rudesheim am Rhein (Germany), Jörg Gessner lives and works in Paris since 1989. That year, he began studying fashion design and fashion model in Studio Berçot. He continued his studies in textile design at Studio Melvin Anderson (Milan). Jörg Gessner’s designer career took a new direction in 2004 during a visit to Japan, where he met Yoshinao Sugihara, tenth generation descendant of Hanshirou Sugihara, founder of the real factory of washi. Thus, after a rich career in textile design and design of objects, Jörg Gessner chose to dedicate himself to Japanese paper. He became one of best connoisseurs. He experiences paper to compose a demanding work. Since that turning point, Jörg Gessner is associated with traditional washi-making workshops in the province of Echizen. He also works with Hermès since 2010 and since 2011 with Guerlain. This pieces of washi paper, of sumi and, above all, of light are shown on wood chassis on the walls or on wood structures on the floor.
