Dorval Elementary School May 2016 Newsletter School Life Viking Re-enactment: On April 4th Productions Vinland came to Dorval Elementary School to present information about the Viking culture, as the Grade 6's have been studying the Vikings in French class. The animators were dressed in traditional Viking clothing and taught the kids about where and why they raided other towns / countries, what goods they traded for with other cultures, the clothing they wore and the weapons they used in battle and on raids. The students also had the opportunity to watch a Viking battle, each child got to practice using a bow and arrow and participate in a battle themselves using swords and shields. It was a great, hands-on learning experience!
