EXPERIENCE
1st Playable Productions, LLC
Troy, NY
Assistant Designer/Programmer
(6 months) June 2009 – November 2009
• Worked as an intern designer/programmer to develop childrenʼs games for the Nintendo DS.
• Designed general gameplay mechanics, implemented minigames and in-game missions using internal tools and
Lua scripting, rapid prototyping, extensive documentation, and helped to bridge communication between
production, art and engineering teams.
• Programming responsibilities included working in C++ to implement minigames, debug existing systems and
work on various final modifications and additional last minute features for near shipping games.
• Actively participated in weekly conference calls with publishers and acted as a mediating voice between design
requests and engineering feasibility.
• Awarded by 1st Playable for recognition of Excellence in Performance during the shipping of Winterʼs Tail DS
SHIPPED TITLES:
• (June 2010) Elite Penguin Force: Herbertʼs Revenge (Disney Interactive Studios) – Minigame Design and
Mission Scripting
• Winterʼs Tail DS (Crave Entertainment) – Design and Programming Support
• My Virtual Tutor: Reading (Mentor InterActive) – QA and Programming/Design Support
Rochester Institute of Technology
Rochester, NY
Teaching Assistant/Tutor
(3 months) December 2009 – February 2010
Assisted a programming course in C++ with a strong focus on object oriented design concepts. Worked with two
classes (15-25 students at a time) to help students with assignments while reinforcing lesson material, debugging
practices, error parsing tips, as well as providing additional insight as to how the language works.
PROJECTS
•
Multidisciplinary Senior Design Project – Worked with a large team of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers
and Industrial Designers to develop games on a custom handheld device for a nine-year old with severe visual
limitations. Programmed for an embedded system with constrained resources using a low level language (Spin).
This project won the RIT IEEE Student Design Contest in 2009.
•
JSON Model Pipeline Experiment – Co-authored an experimental custom JSON Model format-based data
make process for rendering selectively compressed mesh data from Blender into a DirectX 10 application while
allowing artists to easily take advantage of DX10ʼs mesh subset feature in their modeling environment.
•
XNA Game Project – Worked as Tech Lead with a team of 12 students to develop a 3D multiplayer, 3rd-person
shooter/RTS (titled Fluffymancer) in 10 weeks. Oversaw and assisted the implementation of the gameʼs various
subsystems such as combat mechanics, spatial partitioning and collision detection, and some rudimentary AI.
