The Gallery Choir and Baroque Players of the Church of St John the
Evangelist present G. F. Handel's virtuosic setting of Psalm 109 Dixit
Dominus. It was composed in 1707 during Handel's time in Italy. The
music is Handel's earliest surviving autograph, and reveals the
young composer's passion and raw intensity of spirit.
Also featured in this concert will be works by two of England's
seminal composers, William Byrd and Henry Purcell.

La chorale paroissiale et les Baroque Players de l'église St. John the
Evangelist présentent l'arrangement virtuose du psaume 109 Dixit
Dominus de G. F. Händel, composé en 1707 pendant son séjour en
Italie. Cette musique représente l'autographe le plus ancien connu
de Händel et révèle la passion et l'intensité d'esprit du jeune compositeur.
Le concert comprend aussi des œuvres de deux des compositeurs
anglais les plus prestigieux, William Byrd et Henry Purcell.
