On behalf of Aga Khan Foundation Canada, my deepest thanks for your support for
the World Partnership Golf tournament in 2013.
We are thrilled to announce that we raised more than $1.5 million this year at our nine
tournaments in seven Canadian cities. We sold out foursomes at all of our events this year – since
the tournaments started in 2000, we have now raised a grand total of $9.5 million!
These funds support important projects overseas, making a tangible difference in the lives of
some of the world’s most vulnerable people. For example, women in Afghanistan can now
access small loans to start their own businesses, artisans in Mozambique can sell their crafts to
international markets, and youth in northern Pakistan are building their entrepreneurship and
leadership skills.
Canadian-supported programs like these would not be possible without the generosity of golfers
and sponsors like you.

Au nom de la Fondation Aga Khan Canada, je vous exprime mes plus sincères
remerciements pour votre appui envers le tournoi du Golf des partenaires
mondiaux 2013.
Nous sommes heureux de vous annoncer que nous avons amassé plus de 1,5 million de dollars
cette année grâce aux neuf tournois que nous avons organisés dans sept villes canadiennes.
Nous avons vendu l’ensemble des quatuors de tous nos événements cette année. Depuis les
débuts des tournois en 2000, nous avons amassé un total de 9,5 millions de dollars!
Ces fonds financent d’importants projets à l’étranger et font une différence tangible dans la vie de
certaines des personnes les plus vulnérables du monde. Par exemple, des femmes en Afghanistan
peuvent maintenant obtenir de petits prêts pour démarrer leur propre entreprise; des artisans au
Mozambique peuvent vendre leur artisanat sur les marchés internationaux; et des jeunes au nord
du Pakistan acquièrent des compétences en affaires et en direction.
De tels programmes soutenus par le Canada ne pourraient exister sans la générosité des golfeurs
et commanditaires comme vous.

Campaign Highlights
London Hole-in One
The first ever hole-in-one in World Partnership Golf history was made by Minaz
Shamji at the London tournament! For his efforts, the skilled (or lucky) golfer took
home a brand new 2013 white Mitsubishi RVR ES FWD, which was generously
provided by London Mitsubishi Motors. Congratulations!

Connecting Canadians to the Cause
At each tournament, volunteers share stories on the impact participants are having in
the fight against global poverty. By supporting the work of AKFC, golfers are making a
difference in the lives of vulnerable communities in Asia and Africa.

Your Dollars at Work
Canadian support has made it possible for Aga Khan Foundation Canada to help change
the lives of millions around the world. Take a look at how AKFC is proving that change
is possible, thanks to you.
Health and Hope
Funds raised from the tournaments will
help support the construction of a new
hospital in Bamyan province, one of the
most challenging places to become a new
mother. 98% of births take place at home,
mostly without a skilled birth attendant.
The project will include training for
midwives and nurses, a community nutrition
program and other health promotion
activities. Thanks to the support of Canadian
community and business leaders, a new
hope is being given to mothers and children
in northern Afghanistan.

La santé et l’espoir
Les fonds amassés grâce aux tournois contribueront
à la construction d’un nouvel hôpital dans la province
de Bâmiyân, l’un des endroits les plus difficiles au
monde pour les nouvelles mères. Là-bas, 98 % des
naissances se déroulent à la maison, majoritairement
sans la présence d’une sage-femme compétente.
Le projet comprendra la formation de sagesfemmes et d’infirmières, un programme de nutrition
communautaire et d’autres activités de promotion
de la santé. La communauté canadienne et des
entrepreneurs chevronnés canadiens donnent un
nouvel espoir aux femmes et aux enfants dans le
nord de l’Afghanistan.
