SpringTerm
Learning Objective: to consolidate your understanding of the present tense; to revise
sports and leisure, weather and use of connectives.
Learning Outcome: a piece of work that will be assessed against Year 7 Milestones for
speaking and activities to develop comprehension
of new language and grammatical structures.
Guidelines for completion
We have divided this ELA into five sections, one for each week. You need to decide
how to divide up your time.
Do not feel that you can only do Week 1’s work in week 1; you can start Week 2’s
work in week 1 for example.
Preparation time and guidance will be given in lesson time for the more difficult and
lengthier tasks.
To help you be an effective self-manager we suggest you take the time to read through
the ELA before you attempt any of it to work out what is required of you each week so
you can plan your time effectively.
Week 1
Be independent – make sure your notes in your files on the present tense of regular –er
verbs are clear. If they are not make sure you copy the following down neatly on to file
paper:
Most verbs have an infinitive which ends in –er
Example: adorer (to adore), collectionner (to collect), voyager (to travel)
The –er verb ending changes according to the subject pronoun (I, you, he, they etc):

Read them through and then if you have any questions, look at www.languagesonline.org.uk.
This should answer your questions, if not you need to come and find your teacher to ask
for help.
Based on what you have read, conjugate these verbs appropriately. Don’t forget to write in
the pronoun as I have done for you for number 1. There are 20 marks to be awarded for
this.

Week 2 -being independent and taking responsibility for your learning
The focus of this week is reading and the pieces you complete will contribute to your overall level
for reading this term. Use a dictionary if you need one (www.wordreference.com is the best) and
your file to help you.
You do not have to attempt ALL tasks; these are differentiated. Your teacher will guide you
as to which level you should be aiming for.

Je suis très sportive.
Je joue au tennis avec ma soeur deux fois par semaine au club de tennis. Nous
jouons le lundi et le jeudi. Mon frère, qui s’appelle François, ne joue pas au
tennis - il joue au badminton. Je joue au badminton avec mon frère une fois par
semaine au collège.
Aussi je fais du roller avec mes copains dans le parc. Nous faisons du roller

SPEAKING!!
Your task!!
Be independent, creative and a good self manager! The week after next you will
have to do a short oral presentation in class. You can prepare it in advance but you can’t
just read your notes – you have to take time to learn it! Be a good team worker and get
someone to help you learn your presentation!
Keep revisiting it throughout the week and over the weekend.
What you need to do?

Prepare a short presentation about your hobbies and the sports you do. Explain also
what different activities you do depending on the weather.
