«Une explosion, des équilibres fragiles, un pendu, une
chaise électrique, une roue destinée à infliger des
tortures moyenâgeuses, un héro la tête en bas, les
pieds en l’air, un ange invalide, des sages, l’Histoire qui
tourne en ridicule la notion d’honneur, le puissance du
lion face à la puissance de la Croix, le masque cannibale,
le plaisir intellectuel, le plaisir bestial, un acrobate,
un mauvais rêve et bien d’autres choses encore font
partie de l’installation qui a pour nom White Power et
tiennent lieu d’observations sur la quête du pouvoir
et la recherche du plaisir ; ce qui, dans le fond, forme
le même désir irrationnel et témoigne de la présence
de cette composante bestiale chez l’ homme. Les
matériaux que j’utilise sont de vieux meubles et
objets abandonnés que je trouve et ramasse dans
les rues d’Athènes, et que j’assemble à des matériaux
habituellement utilisés dans la sculpture tels que le
bronze coulé, la porcelaine blanche, l’argile blanche
etc. Dans l’œuvre Chain Reaction, qui fait partie de
la série White Power, une chaise retournée et fixée
à l’envers au-dessus d’une autre, signifie la fin d’une
certaine diplomatie et le début d’une explosion (une
réaction en chaîne) qui se tient là devant nous sur
une table en marbre, comme figée par le déclic de
l’appareil photo. L’équilibre est fragile et les différentes
parties qui constituent l’œuvre sont comme au bord
du gouffre et on doit imaginer l’avant et l’après de
cette scène.»
