1. What can one do at Culturethèque?
CULTURETHÉQUE is a digital library that enables subscribers registered with one of the Alliances
françaises of Thailand’s media library to:

Complete their French-language study with the help of material and resources adapted to
their level in French;
▫
Access their favorite magazines as soon as they are released on the market;
▫
Watch concerts, performances and conferences;
▫
Immerse themselves in the hundreds of e-books and illustrated books available.

2. How to access Culturethèque?
Culturethèque is a free service included in media library membership at the Alliance française of
Thailand.
To access Culturethèque, you need to:
a. Register at the media library of the Alliance française nearest you, and
b. Fill out the Culturethèque registration form.
Your subscription will be activated within 15 days and will remain valid for the duration of your
media library membership. An e-mail will be sent to you to remind you of your User Name and
Password.
PLEASE NOTE: For readers who are less than 18 years old, access is done under parents’ supervision.

3. How to search on Culturethèque?
You can choose one of two methods to do a search:
a. Through the search engine:
Basic search is done by using key words such as Balzac, geography, Le Point news magazine,
illustrated albums, water, etc.
Select “Toutes les ressources,” or all resources, to obtain the most results from a basic search.
Refine your search by using the menu on the left: type of document, author, language, collection,
etc.
b. By selecting resources
You may also consult the resources recommended by the Alliance française of Bangkok’s digital
librarian and which are categorized in themes in the tabs “Lire,” “Ecouter,” “Regarder” and
“Apprendre,” that is, to read, listen, look and learn.

4. How to access documents on Culturethèque?
Their content can usually be viewed online through streaming and, in some cases, can be
downloaded for a limited period of time. All documents are accessible on tablets, smartphones and
computers.
The process is virtually the same for all documents:
a. Click on the name of the document you wish to see in the list obtained through your
search.
b. You then will be transferred to a page with a short description of the work.
c. Click on the link “visualiser le document,” or view the document, to read the whole
document in slideshow mode.
PLEASE NOTE: in order to access the content of documents, you must have entered your
Culturethèque’s User Name and Password.

When you look at a document for the first time, an authentication request window will appear. All
you have to do is click on “Oui, j’accepte que ces informations soient transmises,” or yes I accept to
have this information transmitted, in order to access the document.

5. How to use the interactivity made available by Culturethèque
Culturethèque is an interactive platform through which you can communicate with other users, post
comments and critiques regarding documents you have accessed, and share what you have
discovered at the site on social networks such as Facebook or Twitter.
Click on
to enter your comments and share your viewpoint with other Internet users.
Warning: Any comment containing threats, abuses or unacceptable comments shall be eliminated
and the author’s membership suspended.
Click on
to set up your personal library by keeping the documents that interest you in your
“Panier,” or folder. You can access your “panier” by clicking on the tab “Mon compte,” or my
account, on top of each page to the right.
