Catholic, the process for that is RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults). The next series of RCIA classes will begin September 30th.
Classes meet on Sundays at 10:00AM in the Parish Office. To sign up
for RCIA, just leave your name and phone number with the Parish
Office.
2012 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal
The monthly pledge reminders for the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal
pledges have been mailed. It is very important that these pledges be
paid so that our parish will reach and, hopefully, exceed our goal.
Please keep in mind that our parish receives 100% of all cash donated after our parish goal is met.

The next infant Baptism Class will be Saturday, October 6th at
9:30AM in the Parish Office. Parents and godparents must attend instruction before scheduling a baptism in the parish.

Little Orphan Annie Makes Her Way to Decatur

Mass for Anyone Impacted by Addition
On the second Saturday of each month at 10:00AM, a Mass will be
said in Our Lady of the Assumption’s main church for those struggling with alcoholism, other drug addition, eating disorders, nicotine
addiction, gambling addiction, prescription addiction, sexual addiction, or any other difficulty with obsessions and compulsions. This
Mass is also for affected others who are impacted by addiction. Come
if you are in recovery, come if you are actively using, come if you
live with someone who is addicted, come if you grew up in an addicted household years ago, come if you are not sure, come if you
need healing, come if you need reconciliation, come if you need
transformation, come and be in community at the table of the Lord.
Any age is welcome; all are welcome! Our Lady of the Assumption

The Way for Women
The Way for Women is a 3-day retreat for adult female survivors of
abuse offered by the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Victim Assistance
Program October 12th-14th at Carmel Retreat Center in Hoschton,

KPCLA #376 Annual Prayer Breakfast
Come and join in prayer, food, music and fellowship with the
KPCLA Court #376 at their 9th Annual Prayer Breakfast Saturday,

"Prenez courage, ne craignez pas. Voici votre Dieu. C'est la vengeance qui vient, la revanche de Dieu. Il va vous sauver". Voilà ce message que nous avons entendu dans la première lecture. Comprenons
bien, cette revanche de Dieu c'est celle de son amour. Il ne prend pas
sa revanche contre nous mais contre le mal qui nous atteint et nous
abime. Sa revanche c'est de supprimer le mal, c'est faire en sorte que
les aveugles voient et que les sourds entendent. La bonne nouvelle
c'est que Dieu nous aime plus que tout être au monde. Notre vie
connaît souvent des humiliations physiques et morales. Mais le Seigneur est là ; il vient pour nous libérer et nous sauver. Avec lui, le
mal ne peut avoir le dernier mot.
Aujourd'hui, nous voyons Jésus en territoire païen et non en territoire
d'Israël. Sa mission n'est pas réservée à un unique peuple. Elle s'ouvre à tous. C'est là qu'il va guérir un sourd muet. Cet homme représente tout un peuple pratiquement fermé à la Parole de Dieu. Il est
incapable de proclamer les merveilles de son Créateur. Il est sourd à
la bonne nouvelle de l'Evangile. Sa rencontre avec Jésus a été quelque chose d'extraordinaire. Un mot résume bien toute l'action du
Christ : "Effata" (ouvre-toi). Jésus vient nous ouvrir à Dieu, aux autres, à tous les autres.
Cet homme handicapé nous ressemble. Même si nous entendons et
parlons correctement, il peut nous arriver de nous enfermer sur nousmêmes. Nous pensons à tous ces hommes, ces femmes, ces jeunes
qui sont "bouclé" dans leur solitude. Ils sont incapables de communiquer avec les autres. Ils vivent repliés sur eux-mêmes, sans relation,
sans ami, sans travail, sans conversation. Rien ne les intéresse en
dehors de leur "moi". Nous vivons dans un monde super médiatisé,
mais beaucoup continuent à vivre dans l'individualisme. Chacun y
cherche à tout prix à ménager ses intérêts et ses privilèges. Cette attitude nous rend sourds aux drames du monde et au bien commun.
Quand Jésus nous dit "Ouvre-toi", c'est pour nous ouvrir à la Parole
de Dieu. Cette parole nous la découvrons en lisant la Bible. C'est
dans notre vie de tous les jours et à travers les divers événements que
Dieu nous parle. La Bible, l'Evangile nous donnent de pouvoir décoder le langage de Dieu à travers toutes les réalités de la vie. En cette
année de la foi voulue par notre pape, nous prendrons le temps de
nous nourrir de cette Parole de Dieu pour qu'elle transforme réellement notre vie. Elle nous est donnée pour que nous comprenions à
quel point Dieu nous aime.
