Le Journal de Montréal
Du personnel de la Cité de la santé et d'une entreprise spécialisée en environnement fouille les
poubelles de l'établissement depuis quelques mois. Leur objectif : déterminer de façon précise ce
que jettent les patients et les employés.
L'expérience qui serait une première au Québec est suivie de près par Recyc- Québec. D'autres
établissements de santé pourront aussi profiter de cette analyse unique. «Dans les hôpitaux, il y a
beaucoup de contenants et de matières en plastiques qui sont jetés. Dans certains départements,
ça représente 20 à 25 %», souligne le chef de l'hygiène.

Clinicians, Hospitals, Ask Congress for Antibiotics Legislation
HCWH
HCWH revealed that more than 1000 clinicians and more than 60 hospitals have signed petitions
asking Congress to protect the nation’s antibiotics arsenal for human use by restricting their nontherapeutic use in animal agriculture. The conference call was in advance of the hearing on
antibiotics and animal agriculture by the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s
Subcommittee on Health.

New GP surgery is London borough's flagship 'green' development
Building Better Healthcare
A NEW GP surgery has opened on the site of a Victorian textile factory in Hackney, creating one
of the biggest and most-sustainable health buildings in the London borough.
The passive ventilation, coupled with solar shading, is designed to minimise internal temperature
fluctuations without the need for environmentally-damaging air conditioning. A building
management system automates the array of opening vents to ensure air movement when required
and to facilitate night time cooling.

Objectifs : Former les professionnels qui travaillent avec les enfants et les familles relativement

Pollutions environnementales liées aux médicaments

L'industrie pharmaceutique est confrontée à un nouvel enjeu environnemental, jusqu'ici
totalement ignoré par les pouvoirs publics. Des études récentes ont montré un phénomène
inquiétant de dissémination de molécules médicamenteuses dans la nature pouvant avoir des
effets néfastes sur la faune.

R&D : comportement des industriels durant les phases de test de nouveaux médicaments

Le développement d'un nouveau médicament impose plusieurs phases de tests avant mise sur le
marché. La dernière d'entre elles doit se faire sur l'être humain, après que tous les tests
nécessaires sur des animaux ont été réalisés et validés. Il faut parfois plusieurs mois ou années
pour réunir un panel de volontaires aux Etats-Unis, et les coûts associés sont donc très
importants. Face à ces difficultés, les laboratoires délocalisent leurs tests. Les intérêts sont
multiples : rémunération plus faible des participants, moindre difficulté à trouver des volontaires,
moindre taux d’abandon en cours de tests… et absence de législations ou insuffisance des
contrôles permettant de protéger les droits des volontaires de manière efficace.
