Bonjour à tous :
During the coming school year, you will be immersed into communication
and you will be sharpening your listening, speaking, writing and reading
skills as outlined by College Board .It is important that you keep practicing
French everyday .I strongly recommend that you spend 30 minutes a day
working on your summer assignments. All communication must be in
French.( such as contacting me via email)
1- Description du cours AP : 10pts
Visit the CollegeBoard website and read through the description of the
examination . Then, send me an email in French ( using proper etiquette)
stating that you read and understood the requirements and format of the
AP French Language and Culture examination. I will be happy to answer
any questions you may have.

2- Révision de la grammaire: 30pts
Passe-composé. Imparfait, futur, conditionnel, impératif , présent ( all
verbs) subjonctif , pronoms objet directs et indirects, négations, pronoms
démonstratifs et interrogatifs., si / quand clauses.
Print one exercise from each category as evidence of your work., or write
them on a piece of paper.

d- General assessment of your grammar level :This will take 45mn to
complete. At the end , there is an assessment that explains your rating,
strengths and areas for improvement. Print this out.

2- Approche thématique : les 6 thèmes. 40pts
Find one article on each of the 6 themes of this course from any online
source in French – You may use audio OR/ AND print sources.
The themes are :
a- Global Challenges/ Les défis mondiaux ( la guerre, la paix,
l’environnement, le partage des ressources…)
b- Public and Private Identities / La quete de soi ( biographical
information, discriminaton, integration, etc )
c- Families and Communities / Famille et Communauté.
d- Science and Technology /Science et Technologie
e- Beauty and Aesthetics / Beauté et Esthétique ( art, music, fashion,
architecture, etc)
f- Contemporary Life / Vie Contemporaine( all current events, trends,
politics, etc)
For each article , you are to complete a brief summary in correct French
and vocabulary study, using the template provided. Staple your summary
reports. (6)
Under no circumstances you may use a translator.

3- Petit discours. 20pts
Prepare a two minute “petit discours” , in French, introducing yourself to
the class, using the guide You may not use notes for this, but you may use
note cards with key words only.
Les devoirs d’été sont à rendre le premier jour de la rentrée. Le 15 août.
Faites des copies électroniques de tous vos documents.
Créer un dossier (folder) pour la classe AP.
Une première interrogation de grammaire sera donnée à la rentrée.
