WeHealth Panel 2
Panel 2: Women as ICT Developers and Leaders
Questions:
ICT Developers
- Science and engineering remains institutionally sexist. Despite some
progress, women scientists and engineers are still paid less, promoted less
frequently, win fewer grants and are more likely to leave research than similarly
qualified men. – Why?
- When you think of IT professionals, you probably imagine a man. Why?
- Although teenage girls are now using computers and the Internet at rates
similar to their male peers, they are five times less likely to consider a
technology-related career or plan on taking post-secondary technology
classes. Why?
- How to encourage girls for IT?
- How to attract women into computer science?

WeHealth Panel 2
Panel 2: Women as ICT Developers and Leaders
Questions:
Leaders
- Why does increasing female leadership matter?
- Business women differ from business men in style, not skill – what do you
think?
- Women often believe they cannot do it.
They lack self-confidence, trust in their abilities and courage to make decisions.
What could be done at school and at university to strengthen the selfconfidence of women?
- Business Women in Africa – how should they be supported?
