The Arrephorion. G. Venieri (Α’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on excavation conducted in 2002. Two exploratory trenches were opened in the eastern room, in an area previously investigated by Kavvadias and Kawerau between 1885 and 1890. The principal objectives were the removal of fill from the old excavations with a view to the restoration and protection of the monument, and the establishment of the building’s architectural phasing. The interior of the building, which had been excavated down to bedrock according to the plans of the old excavations, was found to have been filled with a large number of architectural members, marble fragments and stones. Ceramics mixed in the fill date from the Late Helladic to the 19 th century, and had apparently been deposited there during the excavations. Finds include fragments of Archaic figurines. The Pandroseion. Following the adoption in 2001 of a plan for restoration work in the eastern part of the Pandroseion, preliminary work took place in 2002-3. The temporary scaffolding covering the area from the period of the restoration of the Erechtheion was removed, and fill surrounding the olive tree to the west of the Erechtheion cleared. Several in situ blocks of the Pandroseion had collapsed, having suffered damage from the iron supports used in the restorations of Balanos: these were removed.
