AntiquesSession FoireauxantiquitésavecDavidBrown
Antiques Session Tuesday 8th November 2011 at 5:30pm with David Brown David began collecting antiques in his early 20s, with silver being his first passion. Over time, his interest and knowledge expanded, leading to a professional career in antiques. His field of expertise and of particular interest is furniture, silver, porcelain, brass and other objects of virtue (small items that could comprise a particular specialized collection). He no longer has his Montreal shop, but is busy lecturing and evaluating for museums, private collections, estate and house sales, and the Canadian Antiques Roadshow. In the past, he took part in antique shows in Toronto, Montreal, King City, Long Island, New York. He had one of the most interesting booths at the Ashbury Antique Fair, which was his favourite of all shows, here in Ottawa for 15 years, where many of us first met him. Have you interesting items of another era? David loves to discuss beautiful things, their provenance, their value, their history. Send in photos of things you treasure ---- unfortunately, not everything can be discussed. Anticipate the thrill and surprise of discovering that the bowl you use to feed Rover is actually Famille Rose! Have a good look at your things! The items to be discussed will be pre-selected from the photos. Only those deemed to be of sufficient interest will be discussed. Do not expect an appraisal of everything you have, and do not expect to sell anything, nor to find anything for sale! This is a fun evening! Come and enjoy it, and combine it with dinner at the Club. NB: photograph your items and e-mail them with a brief description to [email protected], or bring the photo or item to the club to the attention of Caroline LePage, at least 3 or 4 weeks before the event.
