PREVIEW : LOSC LILLE MÉTROPOLE - TOULOUSE FC
LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC Feature Preview
Champions League football will be on the minds of Lille and Toulouse when the two in-form clubs meet on Sunday in front of
another capacity crowd at the Stadium Lille Métropole.
A 3-0 win at Evian-Thonon-Gaillard, backing up a 4-0 home walloping of Valenciennes in the northern derby the previous week,
consolidated Lille's grip on the third place in the table they have held since Week 7. Rudi Garcia's side became the first in Ligue 1 this
season to win successive matches by a margin of three goals or more and ended Week 29 seven points behind Paris Saint-Germain
and leaders Montpellier.
The champions are keeping a close eye on what is going on behind them in the table too with Toulouse entering Week 30 fourth in
the standings, three points back from LOSC, after a run of five wins and a draw in their last six matches, making Alain Casanova's
men the form club in the top flight in that period.
Reigning Ligue 1 player of the year Eden Hazard is in the midst of a purple patch with two goals and three assists in his last two
league appearances. The prodigious Belgian international has reserved his most thrilling play for the home fans, scoring in each of his
last six league appearances at the Stadium Lille Métropole. The quality of Hazard's set pieces has helped Lille scored 11 goals from
corners, a Ligue 1 high and the 21-year-old continues to impress the managers of big clubs, with Manchester United's Sir Alex
Ferguson and Manchester City's Roberto Mancini both coming to France to watch him in recent weeks.
Breaking down an obdurate Toulouse defence will be a challenge even for a player of Hazard's obvious gifts. Ali Ahamada has kept
16 clean sheets this season - better than any other goalkeeper in the five big European leagues - and TFC have conceded only 24
times all campaign, making them Ligue 1's stingiest defence.
Garcia said: If we keep winning, we know that our position in the table will be good. There are still 27 points to be had, and effort to
be put in. We're going to focus on our match with Toulouse, which is another important game. If we maintain this desire and
determination, we can have a lot of hope for the end of the season."
With Aurélien Chedjou out injured for two to three weeks with the left thigh injury sustained against Evian, former Toulouse captain
Mauro Cetto is set to feature against the club he left last summer to join Palermo. The Argentinian made 98 Ligue 1 appearances and
scored seven goals for TFC in a four-season stint and left a sizeable impression.
Casanova said: "We're happy to be seeing Mauro again because he left his mark here. Mauro is the Argentinian who puts winning
above everything." Left-back Cheikh M'Bengue added: "Mauro was very important to everybody here. He brought his experience, his
maturity and his fearsome will to win to bear. He was a good captain, a leader of troops. He tried to put players off by talking to them
when he played for us but I don't think his tactics will work on us!"
Toulouse are bidding to become the first Ligue 1 club to win four straight away games in 2011-2012 and a one-goal margin of
victory would suit them just fine, just as it has on nine previous occasions this season. 1-0 to the Toulouse was the scoreline in the
pink city in Week 29 when the pink boots of Franck Tabanou provided the one moment of outstanding quality that was enough to see
off bottom club Auxerre. Casanova said: "Thanks to that win the game against Lille becomes really exciting."
Key defensive midfielder Etienne Capoue serves a one-match ban but otherwise Casanova has no new selection issues as he aims
to come up with the right formula to frustrate LOSC, who approach Week 30 with the joint-best attack in the division.

Week 30
LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC
LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC
- HISTORY: Lille have hosted Toulosue 34 times in the top division. LOSC have won 17 times, Toulouse on six occasions and there
have been 11 draws.
- LOSC have lost just once in their last seven home games with TFC, winning twice and drawing four times.
- Last season LOSC won the Week 23 game 2-0 (Gervinho 38' and sub Tulio De Melo 90+5').
- In Week 14 this season the sides played out a 0-0 draw in Toulouse.
- Lille have not lost any of their last eight L1 meetings with TFC (H and A) with three wins and five draws.
- LILLE:
- GENERAL: LOSC head into Week 30 standing third in the table with 53 points from 29 games (14W, 11D, 4L). LOSC start the
weekend seven points behind PSG and leaders Montpellier, while they have a three-point margin over fourth-placed Toulouse.
- LOSC have been third in the table ever since beating Lyon 3-1 in Week 11.
- In Week 29 LOSC were 3-0 winners at Evian-Thonon-Gaillard (Eden Hazard 36' pen., Dimitri Payet 55' and Benoît Pedretti 67'). The
previous week they thumped Valenciennes 4-0 in the northern derby.
- LOSC are the only club to have won back-to-back games by a margin of three goals or more.
- LOSC have lost one of their last seven in L1 (2-1 v Lyon A Wk 27).
- Lille have suffered more defeats in all competitions (5) in 2012 than they did in the whole first half of the season, and have now
suffered more defeats in the current campaign than they did in the whole of the last one.
- Lille recorded their first league defeat in 18 matches when they were beaten 2-0 at Olympique de Marseille in their first game back
after the winter break - Loïc Rémy scored twice in the second half for the hosts (61', 83').
- Before losing in Marseille, LOSC had gone a club record 17 league games unbeaten since losing 1-0 at home to Montpellier Hérault
SC. Not since Rennes went 18 games unbeaten in 2008-09 had a Ligue 1 side enjoyed such a streak of invincibility.
- Rudi Garcia is the only Ligue 1 coach to have used all three substitutes in every league game to date.
- LOSC are joint-top of the attack table with 53 goals scored (level with Montpellier and PSG). They have boasted the best attack in
L1 in each of the past two seasons.
- Hazard (13) is club top scorer, his previous best scoring season was seven last campaign. Nolan Roux has scored eight this season
(four for Brest and four for Lille). He has taken five penalties and scored them all.
- Hazard is third in the L1 assists table with ten, four of them from dead balls.
- LOSC defenders have chipped in with 13 goals, a L1 high.
- LOSC have scored 11 goals from corners, a L1 high.

cards they have collected.
- Mickaël Landreau, Eden Hazard and Rio Mavuba have featured in all 29 league games.
- HOME FORM: LOSC are sixth in the home form table with 26 points from 14 games (7W, 5D, 2L).
- In Week 28 LOSC beat Valenciennes 4-0 (Hazard 18', Benjamin Angoua 57' o.g., Aurélien Chedjou 69' and Tulio De Melo 83').
- There have been 52 goals in LOSC home games, the highest total for any club in L1.
- 28 goals have rattled in in LOSC's last five home games.
- No club has scored more than LOSC's 33 at home.
- Hazard has scored eight times at home. He has scored in each of his last six home L1 games, netting seven times in that run.
- LOSC have scored in each of their last 13 home games, failing to score only in their first home game of the season (a 1-0 loss to
Montpellier in Week 2).

Week 30
LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC
- LOSC other defeat was the crazy 5-4 home defeat to Bordeaux in Week 23.
- LOSC have scored in 31 of their last 32 L1 home games.
- COUPE DE LA LIGUE: In the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue on 11 January OL beat LOSC 2-1 at the Stade de Gerland,
despite having been reduced to ten men after just 11 minutes when Mouhamadou Dabo was shown a straight red card. Cole (28')
then put Lille in front before Kim Kallstrom (41') and Lisandro (65') edged OL through. Lille's Mathieu Debuchy was sent off eight
minutes from time for a second bookable offence.
- COUPE DE FRANCE: The holders were beaten 2-1 by northern neighbours Valenciennes FC in their Round of 16 tie on 8 February.
Mathieu Dossevi (71') and Vincent Aboubakar (78') scored for VA before Roux (88') replied.
- CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Lille were eliminated from all European competition after a goalless draw at home to Trabzonspor on
Matchday 6. Victory would have seen them into the knockout stages. They also missed out on the Europa League as a consequence
of CSKA Moscow's 2-1 win at Inter Milan on the same evening as the Ligue 1 champions ended bottom of Group B.
- TROPHÉE DES CHAMPIONS: Lille lost 5-4 to Marseille in the traditional season-opener in Tangiers. Lille led 2-0 thanks to goals
from Florent Balmont (9') and Hazard (57'). André Ayew got one back for OM (71') only for Sow (72') to make it 3-1. In a crazy finish,
Jérémy Morel (85'), Rémy (87') and André Ayew (90+1', pen) had Marseille 4-3 up, Marko Basa (90+2') equalised, before another
André Ayew penalty (90+5') won it for Didier Deschamps' side. Aurélien Chedjou was sent off for Lille.
- SUSPENSIONS: None.
- INJURIES: Aurélien Chedjou hurt his left thigh against Evian and will be absent for two to three weeks. Marko Basa is working his
way back to full fitness after a shoulder operation.
- TRIVIA: The TFC match and subsequent home games against Ajaccio and PSG are all sold out. That will make it 16 sell-out crowds
this season for Lille in the league.
- TOULOUSE:
- GENERAL: Toulouse head into Week 30 fourth in the table with 50 points from 29 games (14W, 8D, 7L).
- In Week 29 TFC were 1-0 home winners over bottom club Auxerre (Franck Tabanou 38').
- TFC have won six of their last nine L1 games (2L).
- A run of five wins and a draw in their last six games makes them the form club in L1 over that period.
- All six of their league victories in 2012 have come with a clean sheet attached.
- The three league defeats they have suffered since the turn of the year have seen them score just once and concede six times.
- In the 2012 form table TFC stand third with 19 points from 10 games. Only PSG (20) and Montpellier (23) have taken more points.
LOSC are fifth on 17 points.
- Alain Casanova's men were top of the table after Week 2 and were a permanent fixture in the top six before Week 19. They have
not been lower than eighth this season.
- TFC have scored 31 L1 goals and only six L1 clubs have scored fewer.
- Only eight TFC goals have been scored by recognised forwards, the lowest total in the division.
- The 3-2 win against Bordeaux (Wk 6) and the 3-0 win at AS Nancy Lorraine in Week 24 are the only games in which Toulouse have
scored more than twice. They have failed to score on eight occasions, including five times in a six-game spell in October and
November.
- Umut Bulut and Rivière have a team-high four goals each while Tabanou, Paulo Machado and Etienne Capoue have three each.
Four goals is the lowest top scorer haul of any club in the division.
- Franck Tabanou is their leading assist-provider with four.
- TFC have the best defensive record in the division with only 24 goals conceded.
- Goalkeeper Ali Ahamada has kept 16 clean sheets this season, a L1 high. No club in the five big European leagues have managed

more (Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Manchester United all have 15).

Soukouna (v Nice, Wk 3), Etienne Capoue (v Marseille, Wk 10), Pavle Ninkov (v Lorient, Wk 11), Antoine Devaux (v Rennes, Wk 12)
and Franck Tabanou (v Montpellier, Wk18), Moussa Sissoko (v Bordeaux Wk 22).
- Goalkeeper Ali Ahamada and captain Daniel Congré have both played every minute of every game so far.
- TFC have the most single-goal wins (9) of any L1 club.
- AWAY FORM: TFC are sixth in the away form table with 19 points from 14 games (5W, 4D, 5L).
- In Week 28
- Toulouse have won three of their last ten away games (5 defeats). Those victories have been their last three outings.
- TFC are aiming to become the first L1 club to win four away games in a row this campaign.
- They went four away games unbeaten at the start of the season between Week 1 and 7.
- Toulouse are unbeaten in the six away games in which they have taken the lead (5 wins, 1 draw) this season. They have picked up
just two points from the seven away matches in which they conceded the opening goal.
- Adrien Regattin is TFC's top scorer away with two.
- There have been 30 goals in TFC away games. Only Brest (17) and Nancy (29) have lower totals.
- COUPE DE LA LIGUE: Toulouse were eliminated in the Round of 32, losing 2-1 at home to Nice.
- COUPE DE FRANCE: Casanova's men were stunned by third-tier side Gazélec Ajaccio in the Round of 64, losing 1-0 in Corsica.
- Toulouse have now been knocked out by lower-league opponents in each of the last five seasons.
- SUSPENSIONS: Etienne Capoue serves a one-match ban.
- INJURIES: Goalkeeper s Yohann Pelé (pulmonary embolism) and Marc Vidal (thigh), and midfielder Mickaël Firmin (knee) are
absentees.
LOSC Lille Métropole
- The 2010-11 season saw Lille break a host of club records as they swept to a Ligue1-French Cup double, bringing major silverware
to the north of France for the first time in over half a century.
- Lille had last won the league in 1954, and the Coupe de France in 1955, ending a trophy drought whose only consolations had been
four Ligue 2 titles (1964, '74, '78 and 2000) and an Intertoto Cup (2005).
- Lille have won two Ligue 1 crowns (1946, '54) and finished runners-up five times (1948, '49, '50, '51 and 2005). They have won the
French Cup five times (1946, '47, '48, '53, '55), and were beaten finalists twice (1945, '49).
- Their triumph sees them return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2006-07, when they finished second to AC
Milan in the group stage before being eliminated 2-0 on aggregate by Manchester United.
- In the 2005-06 Champions League campaign Lille played all their home matches at the Stade de France in Paris, because their
regular home - the Stadium Métropole Villeneuve d'Ascq - did not meet UEFA requirements. The club used neighbouring Lens' Stade
Bollaert for its European matches in the 2006-07 season.
- Lille earned an historic 1-0 win over Manchester United at the Stade de France in the 2005-06 Champions League and became the
first French side to register an away win over AC Milan (2-0) the following year.
- Lille finished season 2010-11 with the best attack in France (for the second year running), their 68 goals eclipsing second-placed
OM's tally of 62. Lille had two players in the top 10 of Ligue 1's goal scoring charts - Moussa Sow scoring 25 times to top the scoring
charts and Gervinho notching 15 of his own - plus ten assists.

Week 30
LOSC Lille Métropole - Toulouse FC
- Lille's Belgian prodigy Eden Hazard was voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year - the top individual honour in French football - after taking
out the Young Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010.
Toulouse FC
- Toulouse have never won the French league. Their highest ever finish was third, in the 2006-07 season, which qualified the side for
their first ever Champions League campaign (eliminated in the third preliminary round qualifier by Liverpool (ENG), 5-0 on aggregate).
- Toulouse's only top-tier silverware remains the 1957 French Cup, although they have been crowned Ligue 2 champions on three
occasions (1953, 1981 and 2003).
- TFC were a constant fixture of the French first division between 1983 and 1999. They returned to the top flight in 2000, but despite
finishing 16th the club was relegated to the amateur third division by France's financial watchdog, the DNCG. They have been in
Ligue 1 since 2003.
- Toulouse finished eighth in Ligue 1 in 2010-11 on 50 points. They were knocked out of the French Cup at the last 64 stage by Paris
FC (National, D3) and out of the Coupe de la Ligue by Boulogne (Ligue 2) at the last 32 stage on penalties.
- No TFC player managed more than five league goals in 10-11. The club moved to address the gap left by 08-09 Ligue 1 top scorer
André-Pierre Gignac's summer 2010 move to Marseille by signing Emmanuel Rivière (6 million euros from Saint-Etienne) and Umut
Bulut (3.8 million euros from Trabzonspor) ahead of the 2011-12 campaign.
- Toulouse did boast the second best defensive record (36 conceded) in 10-11, level with champions Lille, and behind only Rennes
(35).
- Toulouse coach Alain Casanova replaced Elie Baup in the summer of 2008 after 13 years as the club's assistant coach.
- A goalkeeper during his playing days, Casanova spent two years at Marseille and was on the bench during OM's defeat to Red Star
Belgrade (SRB) in the 1991 European Cup final in Bari, Italy.
