Her work creates a tactile illusion, wich causes the viewer to have a sensual experience of wanting to reach out and touch the works. Outside the painting, the threads continue to grow into objects, which pile up to establish completely independent lives, like little colorfull cakes nourishing the objects. Here at the gallery, there is a transition piece on display. Between two paintings sits a rabbit-like creature. The only thing that takes away from the cuteness of the animal is its headless body. Not even the beautiful lace around the headless neck protects the viewer from the journey into the crinkled reddish inner life of the creature. Crimson piles of yarn seem to scream at the visitor. The yarn hangs from the canvas in a way that is tangled, knotted, interrupted, an loose. The works are vivid. Fabric woven across the painting, as a trail in between the paintings, covers up the painting while also gradually adapting the works into the gallery. Do the paintings have substance ? The paintings carry the viewer away to the ground of the painting, which is hidden under panels of fabric that are overlapping, seam by seam, stitch by stitch, and brushstroke by brushstroke. Fabric like skin, a dream, a dark night. It’s something to talk about. The needle of the sewing machine is rumbling though the canvas into painted faces, bodies, sewing work, and artwork that is put on stroke by stroke, repainted, and sewn over but at the same time is thin as skin. This patchwork somehow becomes complete and the canvas depicts a story whith many layers and many faces. Painting, fabric, sems, faces of children and women, a house-less and useless dwelling. Empty swimming pools, empty tenements of emigrated liveliness. Then a group of children at the edge of the pool with their glowing faces. Stitch by stitch the artist them neon-red masks. The presence of a childhood spent in front of a TV as long as a long lost child wood, with all its fears, begin to show in this picture. » Ludovic Duhamel dans Miroir de l’art # 39 Gourmandise Olie op doek, borduurwerk, 50 x 50 cm 2014 Atelier #7 Olie op doek, borduurwerk, toile jouy 40 x 40 cm 2013 www.sonia-aniceto.net Série “monsters” Démasqué Acryl op doek, borduurwerk 69 x 43 cm 2014 Monsters # 21 Acryl op doek, borduurwerk 43 x 43 cm 2014 www.soniceto.net Le Berger Acryl op doek, borduurwerk, toile jouy 43 x 45 cm 2014 www.sonia-aniceto.net Curriculum Vitae Principales expositions, Foires d’art contemporain, Prix 2014 FI l In, Huis Happaert – Antuérpia (B) (In)tensão têxtil, Galeria da Trindade - Porto (P) 2013 Art Gent - Contemporary art fair, Galerie Down to art - Gent (B) St'art - Contemporary art fair, Strasbourg, Galerie Martine Ehmer - France (F) Arte Lisboa (International Contemporary art fair), Galeria Trindade – Lisboa (P) ART-Spanner exhibition in C.A.R.
