If you want to take one of their
distance education programs or
courses in your own community, you
can use our service.
You register for the course with the
institution and you take your course at
our centre nearby or even from home.
You pay the tuition directly to the
institution.
Some courses are at no cost, such as
literacy courses.
There is no extra cost for using our
services.
A student attends a live course
through e-CLASSES (using the
Internet), an audioconference or a
videoconference.
If you take your course at our centre,
the necessary equipment will be
provided.
We also have staff on site to help if

set dates and times. For example, a
course offered on Tuesdays from
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from January 6
to 27 is a LIVE course.

university or other teaching institution
decides on the type of live “classroom”
setting. An instructor and other
students, from various towns in
Ontario, attend the classes for the

start and end date but you can study

There is a need in small and remote
communities for trained professionals
who can plan, organize and supervise
community-based recreation activities and
programs. This hands-on program will give
you specialized training to meet the unique
challenges of working in rural settings.
Graduates of Rural Recreation can transfer
into any of the three diploma programs
offered in the School of Recreation and
Leisure Services. All courses are also
offered part-time.
If you enjoy working with people in
a leadership or organizing role then
recreation is the perfect career for you.
Recreation professionals plan and
administer recreation and leisure service
programs and facilities for people of all
ages and interests. Canadore’s Recreation
program places a major emphasis on
learning by doing. Students will complete
