KATE MORRISON Singer-Songwriter (English and French) Inspired by everyday life experiences, but not so ordinary subjects, Kate’s song-writing takes us on a unique journey of intimacy, humour and humanity. Her latest album, ‘’Kiss The Sky’’, is decorated with contemporary and traditional instrumentation that supports her strong lyrics, already full of dimension. Independent Recordings ‘’Kiss The Sky’’- Kate independently produced her latest album of 14 original songs (lyrics & music) – launched in 2007 – Recorded by Larry O’Malley at CBC’s Studio 12 in Montreal and at AudioBec Sono/Video in Hatley Township. «Kate Morrison» - re-mastered in 2007 with 3 bonus songs from her first studio album of 14 original songs (1995) «Inside» - studio demo of 5 original songs (in English and French) thanks to a grant from Quebec’s Counsel of the Arts and Letters (2001) «Live» - limited edition CD of 14 songs (original and interpretations) in English and French (2000) «Choeur à coeur» - limited edition cassette of 26 songs in both English and French (1996) Compositions on demand - French songs - for various associations «Tunnel Ange Gardien» limited edition CD – 2000 Composed for the Association for the Protection Of Brompton Lake (APLB) This song, often played on CBC French radio, also aired on the television program «La Semaine Verte» in a report about the amphibian tunnels under Quebec’s auto route 220. «Je suis toujours qui je suis» limited edition CD – 2000 Composed for the Cerebro-Vasular and Cranial-Trauma Association of the Eastern Townships (ACTE). «Au-delà des mots» (not available on CD) Composed for the city of Sherbrooke’s Ambassador Awards in 2002. Songs by Kate – recorded or used by other artists Quebec’s country singer Chantal Cliche recorded three of Kate’s compositions (I’m On My Way, The Laundry Blues, Une raison de croire) on her album entitled ‘’Une raison de croire’’. The title track of this album was translated by Carole Melançon from Kate Morrison’s original version ‘’Reason To Believe’’ that appeared on her first album. Chantal Cliche also asked Kate to translate one of her own songs into English. ‘’Reason To Believe’’ was also used as a backing soundtrack for a video produced by Pierre Javeaux. Kate lent her voice for songs and publicity In 2008, Kate lent her voice to record two songs written by Jean Custeau and Johanne Rondeau, ‘’Enchanted Lullaby’’ and ‘’Two Million Stars’’. Emploi Quebec’s program Jeunes Volontaires recognized Kate as an emerging artist by awarding her two consecutive bursaries for her projects (1993 and 1994). Professional Coachs Kate perfected her vocal techniques from 2005-2006 with Mrs. Johanne Raby, professional voice coach and author of the book ‘’Chanter avec tout son corps’’ ( Sing with your entire body). Since 2002, she worked to perfect her stage performance with artistic director Mrs. Lysanne Gallant, well known in the Eastern Township cultural community.
