L’ambroisie à feuilles d’armoise est une plante pionnière qui affectionne les terres nues. Les chantiers
de génie civil et de bâtiment sont l’occasion de remuer des gros volumes de terre. Des mesures
préventives contre l’apparition et le développement de l’ambroisie sont à introduire dans les chantiers.
L’exposé s’appuiera sur un cas vécu de travaux sur autoroute. Il identifiera les points vulnérables du
chantier vis-à-vis de l’ambroisie : introduction de matériaux, d’engins de chantiers, de terre végétale.
L’exposé se projettera tantôt en zone très infestée et tantôt en zone de front de colonisation. Il
exposera les techniques et précautions à mettre en œuvre pour limiter le risque ambroisie :
engazonnements soignés des modelés, introduction de clauses techniques dans les contrats des
entrepreneurs sur le contrôle des intrants, sur des actions curatives en cours de chantier par exemple.
La motivation des acteurs est déterminante pour réussir : maître d’ouvrage, maître d’œuvre,
entrepreneur sont responsables.
Les moyens techniques existent encore faut-il que l’homme fasse l’effort de les appliquer. La
contrainte règlementaire peut y contribuer.

Common ragweed is a pioneer plant which particularly grows on bare ground. Construction sites of
civil engineering and building sites lead to transport of huge volumes of soil. Preventive measures
against the spreading and the development of ragweed have to be taken in construction sites.
This presentation will rely on practical cases of roadwork. It will identify the weak spots of a
construction site towards ragweed: introduction of materials, building machines or soil. We will make
the difference between strongly impacted areas with high density of ragweed and colonization front
areas with lower density. Some techniques and preventive measures have to be taken to prevent the
risk of new ragweed populations: for instance, an efficient seeding of mounds, the respect of technical
clauses when signing contracts with the building contractors about the management of incoming
materials and the curative actions during the workings. Motivation of all actors is a crucial aspect to
get success: contracting owner, project management and building contractor are responsible.
Technical solutions exist, but actors still have to make the effort to apply them. Regulatory burden can
contribute to it.
