Owens, 2007 In this workshop, participants will create their own animated short film over the course of six Saturday af ternoon workshops. Several classical animation techniques to be explored for drawers and non-drawers alike: drawn, object and replacement, as well as instruction on animating to a soundtrack. The first three sessions will be centred on special techniques (flipbook, marionettes, sound editing), whereas the next three will allow acquired skills to be put into practice through the creation of an animated short film. And to top of it all off, the homemade animations will be shown during the last session! NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS maximum 10 people LANGUAGE bilingual, French and English LOCATION OBORO’s New Media Lab COST 100 $ TO REGISTER Before Thursday, February 28, 2008 SOFTWARES Frame Theif : free animation software that allows us to take a single image from live viedo feed and compile them into a Quicktime movie iMovie: easy-to-use video editing and rudimentary sound recording program INSTRUCTOR Rickie Lea Owens has a fine arts background, specializing in integrated media at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, and is co-producer of HYMN VIDEO ZINE. She enjoys creating ten-cent comics and is currently working on therapeutic television programs. PREREQUISITE no prerequisite Submit a short summary of your area of practice, as well as a brief (one paragraph) statement of your interest in the workshop. Send it to [email protected].
