The link is composed of DC powered transmitter module and receiver module. The transmitter utilizes a low noise DFB laser operating at 1550 nm over 9/125-µm single mode fiber and highly linear Mach-Zehnder optical modulator. For enhanced reliability the transmitter module incorporates optical power, temperature and bias control circuitries to actively adjust the optimal operating conditions. The receiver utilizes a high-speed low distortion InGaAs PIN diode photo detector. It is designed for low noise and stable performance over a wide temperature range. The link offers several monitoring and alarm features through the DC pin connectors. It includes an optical safety protection that automatically switches off the optical power when the fiber optic link is opened. The RF interface is via a 50-ohm SMA connector and the optical connector is a low reflection APC Radiall LXC-R connector. The packaging is suited extreme environmental conditions (including hermeticty). transmitter RF input Laser diode Electro -optical modulator RF Amplifier Optical output Optical input receiver Photodiode RF Amplifier RF output FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS The RF-Optical link Modules cover a broad bandwidth and is suitable for signal transmission requiring high linearity, (independent distance) low losses and good sensitivity.
